Need help getting something removed from my credit

I was attending classes back in 2005, the university which I was attending claimed that I signed up for classes that I did not sign up for nor attend. They continued to collect from me and I started making small payments because I could not continue to sign up for classes until that debt was resolved. I finally gave up as the amount just kept growing due to interest.

They sold the account to Collection Agency A who reported it to my credit.

Fast forward to now, I am being sued by a law firm for Collection Agency B. Through discoveries, I have found out they have no proof that I attended or signed up for classes, but are suing me for "services rendered". The amount they are suing me for like over 3k but I have negotiated with them for $1000. I know they know they have no case since they literally have hounded me to make an agreement.

Anyway, my question is-how do I get Collection Agency A off of my credit report? When I called Transunion, the representative told me I could dispute it as paid, but that is not correct. It Is NOT paid to collection agency A, it is a debt that no longer exists to them, so as far as I am concerned it should be taken completely off.

I am making the payment tomorrow morning to the Law Firm and have told them I want some kind of letter so that I can get it taken off my credit. What should I ask them to say in the letter? Since they were not the original firm that reported it??

For starters, school debts are not sold, they are placed with 3rd parties.

Another is, you do not have to attend a class to be billed for it. They do not need to show you attended, only that you signed up. Your class schedule with the classes listed is all the proof they need that you were enrolled. If you signed up for a class but forgot to drop it or even accidentally enrolled, they can still charge you for it. Your agreement with the school is pretty tight and they will win.

I did file a motion for discovery which is how I discovered they do not have record of me signing up or attending these classes. After I filed the motion for discovery, that is when they started trying to settle-before that my offers of settling were met with a big "NO". I am making a payment arrangement mostly because I am really terrified of court. I have been to a few free legal clinics and have been told my case against them is strong.

Nevertheless, my question wasn't regarding any of this. My question was, how can I get Collection Agency A to remove their item from my credit?
