Does Credit Consolidation affect future Sudent Loans?
I have close to $15,000 in credit card debt. I am currently an undergraduate pre-med student with a 3.9 GPA. I plan on graduating in 2012 with a dual major B.S. in Biology and Environmental Science. With hopes of beginning medical school in Fall of 2012.
My question is whether I should consolidate my credit card debt? Will this affect my eligibility for student loans in the future? What about private loans, in case student loans don't cover all costs of med school? How long will my credit be affected adversely by credit consolidation? Thank you for your time:-)

Credit consolidation wouldn't affect your chances of getting student loan. Federal student loans are given by the government and don't require a credit check. The same is also true for private loans.
If you are in trouble with your debts, it'd be wise to take necessary steps to solve it.

Sorry SC, private loans are VERY credit based and without good credit are next to impossible to get.
