Commentary Re: Mod Replies to Guest Attacks
As with the other thread I moved over here, I would like other mods' input:
In fairness to the OP (Ozzie69), this thread has been hi-jacked. The frivolous commentary back and forth is unneccesary and should all be deleted. Everything in this thread should be deleted, except for the first 3 posts, and then returned to the open forums.
If guests and mods want to debate what is right or wrong, it should be done by PM or in a separate thread, not by hijacking an innocent party's topic.
Ayes/Nays ???

Ummm... I wasn't asking for this thread to be closed. That is not fair to the original poster, since he has a valid topic regarding BoA settlement. Simply, all the useless banter needs to be removed, and I requested other mods' input so that paul wouldn't get upset when I deleted his replies without warning.

I think you handled this fairly Debtcruncher. I always try to dissuade bantering back and forth. I know that sometimes it's very tempting to reply and defend, but one defensive comment can start a chain reaction.

Thanks Shazz. I was a little upset this morning because last night when I posted, this thread was not closed. It appears to me that, rather than reply to my suggestion/argument, someone simply locked the thread. I don't think that's the right solution.
BTW Paul, I'm not trying to say you did anything wrong.
These guests come here with the sole purpose of inciting trouble. When we feed into it and argue back and forth with them, I feel all that does is detract from the usefulness of this site. You can imagine that another member who may be trying to settle with BoA, and happens across this thread, doesn't want to open the thread and see mods and guests arguing about something completely irrelevant.
I'd say don't even give these guests the time of day. Just delete their errant posts and restore the thread to its original fervor. Or if you really must reply, then "split" those posts into a new thread, and reply there so it doesn't hijack an innocent person's topic.

..as said before the best thing is avoid such posts. You can either delete them or send me the urls so that I can take necessary actions against 'such' trouble makers.

i have deleted alot of humanoid posts, but i made an exception where this person was concerned.the reason?they were following badabing around, and didn't want to lose a good member because of some loon.btw i did end up pm'ing vikas and got them booted.yes i did delete a bunch from that guest, and they got more stand offish.bottom line is i will defend members if it calls for it.i will try to exercise restraint though, and know that jason and vikas are here to assist as well.

I agree with the main idea of this thread.. I know how tempting it is to fight back and have been guilty of it myself but we're all human :)
But I do see how adding fire to the flame could steer it away from the poor OP!
My thing is that it is usually guests who do this so we could not PM them..

I agree, alot of nuts come here just to start trouble, then they leave-after they get others involved. I try to avoid falling into it, but probably have a few times myself. There was one thread where someone was trashy Unc, and I simply stated that we have zero tolerance for that, but would be happy to answer questions about debt or credit.
If they won't stop or are continuing, I hust PM Jason!..karen
