It seems to me the site does not time-out guests. I find it hard to believe there are 2037 guests lurking around (although I guess it's possible).
Either way that is a lot of user sessions that bog down the server. If there are 2092 people (2037 guests + 55 members) actively viewing web pages, that's a lot of http requests to serve. Not to mention the PHP takes some processing to generate the pages.
Oh there's lots of possibilites... DoS attacks, a bad line of code that spawns orphan processes, etc.
I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary lately.
