Student loan help!

I had a Student Loan in Texas from Panhandle and I defaulted on it and now it went to a debt collection agency called Texas Guaranteed. Well I tried to talk to them and they told me I was behind $800 and in order for me to come up with a payment plan I need to come up with half by October 28th and then they can set me up with payments of $50 to $70. I owe them $4,379.02. She told me if I dont come up with the money then they are gona garnish my wages by 15 %. Im super scared that i cant come up with that amount of down payment for the payment plan and i dont want to get put thru wage garnishment. Can they do this to me if I am trying but cant come up with the money on the time frame they asked? has anyone been thru this before??? please help me thank you

No, Texas Guaranteed is the guarantor for federal stafford loans...federal loans. They are not a CA. Panhandle has already filed a default claim so forebearances are not an option.

Technically yes they can do this to you. You agreed to balance in full ON DEMAND on your prom note they are giving you a month to come up with a down payment.

However, if you cannot come up with a downpayment, offer them a larger monthly payment. Rehabs is not an option..texas hasnt done them in ages cause they have no lender. You might wanna look into consolidating with Direct Loans ASAP!
