I am guessing that this is the right place to bring this up, and I kind of hate to bring it up but I think it has to be.
Has anyone noticed a lot of the threads on the payday loan help site lately? I know this has been noticed but it seems like a lot of the threads are people trying to rip off the payday lenders. i know that sounds funny coming from me because I was very badly hurt by my loans and i have seen these loans ruin the lives of people i am very close to. however, some of these stories sound crazy! i even wondered if it was pdl employees trying to set us up to give immoral advice!
i also have noticed that this is also affecting the help given to people.. i noticed the board as a whole has been more reluctant to help because people are more suspicious. i personally have been guilty of being more suspicious towards posters and i hate this.
the payday loan help board really changed my life and i would like for everyone to get the help and support that i have recieved. i hate to see people being questioned and judged and i also hate knowing deep inside that some of these posters really might be out to scam companies.
i hate to open a can of worms but does anyone else feel this way?

yes, I've noticed. I think it is immoral to continue to take pdls after sending letters on previous ones. I am VERY grateful to this site because I just couldn't get out from under them, especially with the IRS on my back. I have no problem paying back what I borrowed as I'm ethically and morally responsible for that.

I don't know how to tell a "legitimate" poster from a scammer. I fear people will scam as a way to get extra money in this economy.

i saw the very thread, and declined comment there.my thoughts are that we are getting people whether as guests or short term members who do use the info here to get out of paying ipdl's.it's sad,but the consensus here is that if you borrow you should pay back, but only what you legaly owe,and not to let the illegal pdl's bully you.some however take advantage of the info we provide.just gives fuel to the humanoids that post from time to time.pity really.

thanks, i just felt bad because i wonder if this takes away from advice to people who really need it.. there are some posts that i just do not respond to because i honestly do not know what to say. i would hate to accuse someone who really needs help of being dishonest, as i am sure the collectors do that enough.

I agree with all of you. All of you have helped me tremendously when I most needed. Lucky for me all of my PDLS were overpaid. Most of you have been around long enough to be able to read through the lines. Please trust and believe in your instincts as there are many out there who are genuinely looking for assistance and truly need the help and support you all provide.

I am newer to the boards, I started coming here the beginning of the month. I so appreciated all the help I got and I would harte to see a legitimate person looking for help and not get it.

There are always people out there looking to scam someone else or who is looking to duck out on their own respondibilities. Just keep giving the best advice you can, these people will eventually be caught and get there due comings.

i was gonna edit this because i do not want to bump it.. but whatever..
my thoughts is that this board has in some ways turned into a witch hunt. i am all for paying back what was borrowed but stuff happens and i know my sister has defaulted on loans before paying anything back. she fully intended to pay them but her hours got cut at work, and her paycheck would have barely covered her bills, nevermind the payday loan fees.. she had no idea they were not even legal because i was too ashamed to share my story with family..
that kind of stuff happens and i do not think it is fair that people get accused of being a bad person or comitting fraud (which is the same thing the loan places will tell ya!) when all they want is help. i doubt they would come here asking how to pay them off if they did not want to. if i was treated the way some of the posters are when they come for help, i never would have stayed! i mean i am even scared to post this so imagine how someone who really needs help feels.
i am sure there scammers out there and of course they are in the wrong.. but i thought this board was to give people the benefit of a doubt and to help those in need and to provide tools to help pay off debts.

I read "those" messages with a grain of salt. I think those posters are people who work for the pdls. Otherwise why would they be here, if they didn't have pdls of their own? What would be their purpose to come on this board? I have found this board to be extremely knowledgeable, forthright, and intent on helping people who made poor decisions. I would ignore those other posters. This board has given me back my sanity, and I am able to sleep again - and pay my regular bills.

i know, same here panddmccarthy.. i think some of those posts are to stir up troubles, who knows they could even be from members testing us out. anyone can be anyone online.
but my thing is that i want to provide correct, helpful info because you never know if it is someone who really needs help.

95% of the time the advice being given is for the people that really have issues. Unfortunately, there are those that are just out to "scam the scammers". This is not right and if you really read the post and make your judgements based on the information provided, you will pick them out. In fact, you have been very good at "calling out" those that provide the appropriate information to demonstrate thier intentions, good or bad.

Don't get down or start questioning yourself. You know the difference between right and wrong as you have demonstrated. Make sure that you provide advice to those you are comfortable with and avoid those that you are not.

Beal just give the best advice you can you are doing fine  If you feel uncomfortable responding to a post then simply dont. We are here to support you!

Everyone should remember we as members are not here to judge anyone but offer advice based off of information provided. In being around the forums for awhile, I've noticed it is when people start adding their personal bias or opinion into the advice given that creates misinterpretaion and confusion to posters. That is what we are here to prevent, but no one is perfect

I have been most appreciative of the advise on the pdl forum :D
Being new here, it was the support and advise I read the first few days of deciding to try and be proactive with our credit rather than burrying my head in the sand and hoping it would just go away that made me feel confident to post here.

Thanks for all of the great advise and knowledge that has been shared!

Chrissy

I've noticed too. These boards have been a great source of help to me since I discovered them a few months ago. But I feel guilty knowing that I was happy enough to borrow money and am now having to resort to playing games because I'm having trouble paying the piper. I don't judge anyone. I feel relief that my debt reduction strategies are working but I don't feel good about it. Not paying what I owe and what I agreed to pay doesn't sit well with me at all.

that's right.you did nothing wrong, and by paying back in time you prove that.btw,it is up to these lenders to know what state they would be borrowing in,and those pdl laws.

I just want to thank everyone that has answer my questions.
I am new to the forum. Before I found this site I did not
know anything about the laws for payday loans. The more
I paid them the fees the deeper in debt I was getting.
I am very thankful to have come across this site, because
if it wasn't for this forum I would have continue to pay these
loans with the fees and paydowns. I am finally getting my
life back on track and believe me I will never take another
payday loan out again. I have lost alot of money in fees,
but thanks to all of you I am well aware of the laws now.
Keep up the good work

You aren't doing anything wrong, it's just slow on the weekends. The questions you asked aren't my specialty, hang in there because someone with knowledge regarding your questions will be around when possible.
