Northstar Location Services ** Settlement ** Good?

I know my husband owed Bank of American $9500.00. The account was passed to Encore and now with Northstar Location Services. I called BOFA direct and asked to work with them, they said SURE and transferred me to Northstar (nice huh? I guess this is what I get).

Anyway, the lady Anne was VERY nice. She asked for a settlement amount of $4600.00. I told her I cannot afford that. I offered $1500.00 for July & $1500.00 for August. She said they would rather a payment in full. She asked that I could afford. I said $2600.00 but that was it. Nothing more. She said she will discuss it with BOA and get back to me. She did say she is almost positive that they will accept the payment.

IF she says YES, which I think she will - do I do it??? Do I pay her? If YES, what do I ask for in writing? I want something saying my payment of $2600 takes care of my $9500 debt in full. I do not want to have the "balance" sold.

What do you guys think?

Yes, if the BOA agrees to settle for the amount for less, you should always get it in writing as a proof. This is because if the agreement is oral, there is every possibility that they may sell the balance to a collection agency, who will again harass you for the payment of the balance portion of the debt.

if you get everything in writing about the 2600 settling the account.then hellz yeah take it.

North Star Location is the collection agent for Capital One Auto Finance. Capital One will transfer you right to them with out saying a word. They also tact on an extra $500.00 plus $1,000 on to the debt you owe captial one. They say they only get a percent of the the account collected, don't believe it. Its all in the cost of clearing up the account debt with Capital One Auto Finance. I would really like to see if the balance is really forwarded to Capital One. Most cases the account was charged off. So really they make all the cash collected from you. So hold your hands up......you been robbed legally.
