student loans

My student loans are in deferment. I can now afford to pay the monthly payment, but they can stay in deferment per the agreement for quite some time (I am in grad school). Will my credit score go up if I start making monthly payments, or will it stay the same as having the loans in deferment? Thank you!

Since the negative listing will stay there in your credit report, your score may not improve immediately. However, since you will be making monthly payments towards the debt, your debt to credit ratio will decrease and so after a few months you may find a small increase in your credit score.
