ok i just sent in my dl consolidation papers yesterday..i have a ffel consol w/sm that i have been paying on recently..its not in default or anything like that....why do i have to go one income based repayment plan? how long does it take for doe to consol my loans?

Are you adding a loan to to the FFELP consolidation? You cant reconsolidate with another company just because you want to or because you dont like sallie mae.

i'm consolidating for the cancellations of the dl program..not b/c i want to...i qualify for the public service cancellation...how long does it take to convert? should i continue to pay sm in the meantime?

It can take from 60-90 days for the process to be completed. If

It can take from 60-90 days for the process to be completed. If you dont pay sallie mae, you will get hit with the lates. You are responsible for your sallie mae payments until you have been notified in writing that Direct Loans has picked up your loan.
