Getting ready to pay off credit cards

I am getting ready to pay off all credit cards. Most of them are with collection agencies. I DO NOT want to pay the collection agencies the money. I have heard that there are agencies that don't forward the payment to the OC. Will the credit card companies still accept payment in full? Or will they refuse the payment and force me to pay the collection agencies?

Guest,

Welcome to forums.

See it completely depends upon the credit card companies. If your accounts are already sold to JDB, chances are low for your card provider to entertain your request. However, if they have assigned any third party collection agency to collect on their behalf, then you might negotiate with them and forward your proposal.

Some collection agencies are there engaged in unfair practices. Sometimes they don't send your payments to the original creditors even. But this statement does not hold for all collection agencies. I would suggest verifying it with your credit card company first and then go ahead with the collection agency.

Ask for debt validation before you start paying them. Keep all the records of payments made by you in a safe custody. Hope it helps. Feel free to ask your queries in forums if you have any doubts.
