Student Loan Wage Garnishment
I have been paying on my student loan and apparently missed a payment in January. This Month (May) my wages started being garnish plus the monthly payment. This is over 25% of my gross monthly income. When I called EDU the person told me "too bad". I thought they can only garnish up to 15% of my disposable monthly income. Because of this garnishment I cannot afford to pay my other loan payment and eat. What can I do. I was told I could apply for a hardship but it would take 60 days. help

If this is a federal loan, it is 15%. Talk to your payroll department..they are the ones who do the calculations...should be 15% of your disposable income so after taxes and healthcare.
