Bank of America Risk Assessment
Also, the kicker is that since we spoke with them (this was on Feb. 12, 2009) - she has received two monthly statements for all four accounts. She has received her PIN. She has received an "Advice of Credit" notice that they transferred the $25 from each account "to overdrawn related account" on 2/21/09. On her statement, it says a deposit of $25 on 2/9/09, a deposit of $25 on 2/23/09 from a "related account" and then a $50 withdrawal on 2/23/09 for "force post debit". Her last statements on 3/25/09 stated "because your CampusEdge Checking has closed, you will no longer receive a combined statement. To continue this service, please call or stop by your nearest banking center". I had also called to speak to someone about how they could open those other two accounts without her actually completing that application. They said they had a "problem with the system on that day". It stated right on there that you COULD NOT open an account without a deposit. Apparently it went through without her even signing off on the application and accepting the terms and agreement.
My problem is that they never sent her a notice they were closing her account for the reasons above. And this research fee was just listed as something else on her statements. They verbally told us they were immediately closing her account, but she received two statements after that like her account was open. Is there something that can be done about this? We found out later that they did do a credit check because we got her a free credit report right after this and found out they had misinformation on there - addresses she never lived at and different names that were never hers and 2 credit card accounts that were in someone else's name but on her report - so it looked like she had bad credit. But they based all of this on her credit report and said they didn't, but they are on there as an inquiry on the day she applied.
HELP! I want her $50 back because that is just ridiculous! A research fee.
I appreciate any and all feedback!!

First of all, you should send a dispute letter to the bureaus and and ask them to remove the credit card accounts from your report. The bureaus will verify it and remove it from your report.
I would also suggest you to file a complaint against BOA with the Federal Trade Commission.
To add to the federal trade commission, i'd also complain to OCC
To add to the federal trade commission, i'd also complain to OCC (Office of Controler Currency) I'd also get a copy of your daughters & yours chexystyems report to make sure BOFA didn't report you there.

Same Thing Happened To Me
I can't believe this is happening. I too applied for the campusedge checking and it was required that my application have further review. i received an email asking that i call them and verify some information which i did. i just received my atm card today and tried to get it activated. didn't work. so i called customer service which transferred me to risk assesment which gave me the same bullsh*t excuse. I just finished filing a complaint with BBB. Hopefully they'll help resolve something. I'll have to file a complaint with OCC and FTC too. This is outrageous! My initial deposit of $400 is down to $340, I suppose from the "research fee" you mentioned above. Ugh! I'm so disgusted I feel sick to my stomach.
I would send in a certified letter making a complaint to the hea
I would send in a certified letter making a complaint to the headquarters as well. Also state that you feel as if this was some type of scam

I know what you guys are going through. i made a mistake with this bank and i even owned up to is because we all are human and make mistakes. Bank of America is the largest group of lairs and they also are making my life hecktic. Bank of America informed me no actions were going to be filed and for me to just close the account and go to another bank i had agreed and 3 weeks after i went to a new bank and have had no errors and thinking things were fine i recieved a call from my new bank claiming that they had to close it and i was not going ot be able to have any bank account due to the report that Bank of America placed in the Chex system. I filed the dispute and after almost 4 weeks i didnt hear from them so i called chex system and was informed that Bank of America had the dispute and it was up to them to say yes or no on removing the negitive marks. i called Bank of America and they pointed the finger to Chex system I ca not even have a bank account anywhere and i have a few direct deposits out there i can not access due to Bank of America filing thie report and it caused my current bank to put a freeze on the account and i can not access my own money where is that fair
non-chex banks
There are many other banks and credit unions that do not use chexsystems, others that make exceptions for those reported to chexsystems and some that do offer second chance checking.
Options really depend on where you live but there are also banks that will open accounts for those reported that do not care where you live. Most times these accounts rely are best when direct deposit is used since any other deposits would have to be mailed in. Many of these accounts are not reimbursing ATM fees.
Chexsystems is a credit reporting agency and without the bank telling them to report you and to remove you, they will not. Bank of America is completely responsible for the fact that you were reported (so they lied) and the reason that you are not removed (so they lied) I hear about banks that lie all the time. Many will tell customers that they will remove them if the debt owed is paid but when the time comes, it never happens.
