Are there any undergraduate student loans........
It has been so tough just to cover my necessities to live each month for soooo long because my debts have grown so exponentially due to all the interest charges from when I had no way to pay any money toward those debts. Because of all that, my credit is very poor right now. I've really been wanting to get back into school for a while now and each time I try, I can never find a lender willing to give me a loan. I have no one who can co-sign for me either.
I know I could get Federal Student Loans probably, but I'd rather get a private loan instead. If anyone has ANY suggestion, please let me know. Once again, I've been looking forever and class registration for Spring Semester is yet upon mein just a few short weeks. HELP!!!!!
Thanks to everyone, even those who don't know an answer for me, but at least took the time to read my plea!!!

Daniel,
Welcome to forums. Stafford loan and Perkins loan, both are available for undergraduate students. Two types of Stafford loans are there-subsidized and unsubsidized. Both Subsidized Stafford Loan and Perkins Loan are need-based. You have to go through a need analysis process to get these loans approved. However, Unsubsidized Stafford Loan is not need-based and comparatively easy to qualify.
Private or Alternative Student loans are generally used to bridge the deficit between the actual cost of education and the fund available from Federal loan. So try to get Federal Student loan first. Lots of options are available with them, like deferment, rehabilitation, extended repayment period etc.
You need to fill out the FAFSA to apply for Stafford Loans. Perkins loan is disbursed form the educational institutes directly according to the availability of federal fund. So you must contact the institute you are going to take admission, to know the procedures of applying.
See some more discussion on going back to school here, hope it helps :)

I strongly suggest you complete a FAFSA. Anyone can get a student loan...and they are a life-saver when attending college. Why would you want to get a private loan? I consolidated my student loans...approximately $13,ooo, and the interest rate is 2.77%

Hi holly,
Welcome to forums :D
You are absolutely right. Federal student loan opens a door of options and facilities. Repayment is easier for federal loans.
Consolidation is the most effective way to repay your debts. You know, the maximum portion of our money goes in paying the interest only. Consolidation loan reduces the interest rate to a large extent. Have a look-

Still people look for private loans because sometimes there is a gap between the federal funds received and the actual cost. Let's hope federal student loan system would become friendlier in the coming days.
