Yup....they can also garnish your paycheck as well.

The one thing I tell people when they ask me about unemployment and taxes, I tell them to go ahead and have the taxes withheld on their unemployment. Saves the headache at the end of the year.

I agree but some people, like my ex husband, waived the taxes being taken out and now they snatch his refund to pay for it.

Having it come out up front is the same as having it taken out if you were getting a paycheck. Makes it easier all the way around in the long run.

Yeah, I learned it the hard way and now I just make sure it is taken out. Makes my unemployment less, but I don't want to be hit hard at the end of the year.
