Can they call and threaten to garnish my wages on a student loan from 35 years ago. This guy is calling me at all hours every single day and has a funny attitude on the phone so I don't like talking to him. He has all the information correct and is demanding I send a payment like yesterday, which I don't have! Please reply as soon as possible. I may have posted this in the wrong section.

Well I dont think there was much need or availibility for private loans in the 70's. These are are more than likely GSL's, SLS's or NDSL's thru the FFELP program. And yes they are still valid and yes they can garnish your wages without taking you to court.
