This is my story.

I'm writing this because I think that it will help me vent the frustrations I have bottled up inside of me. Like many others, I am in debt and see no way out of it and just want to give up. I went to school and accrued about 40k in student loan debt. I currently work a job that has nothing to do with my degree whatsoever. Around the time I started college, I also took a credit card offer and am now about 5k in the hole with Amex and Bank of America.
Honestly I am at a point right now where I just want to give up and say "screw it". I don't see any short-term relief from my situation and that is a very hard thing for me to face. It helps me to read the forums and hear other people's stories because then I know that I am not alone.

Most people do not end up using their degree once they hit the work force.

Unfortunately with student loans, especially federal ones you cannot give up. They will get their money back whether it is by tax offset or wage garnishment. With private loans, the sue for judgement. So keep plugging away.
