Consolidated loan - can I file taxes now?
I've been searching this forum for an answer to this for hours now. I apologize if the answer is in another post, I just couldn't find it.
I was in a rehabilitation program with CCA for about two months. I ended up contacting direct loans and consolidating my student loans. Payment is on $33 / a month. I'm happy with it - CCA was charging $200 a month.
My question is, how long do I have to wait to file my taxes?
I have not filed for last year yet and I was being offset. It's only been 5 days since my loan was paid off and I'm about to file taxes. I just don't want to get my hopes up if my taxes are just going to get taken.
Thanks in advance

Soaplady can correct me if I'm wrong, but you should have finish
Soaplady can correct me if I'm wrong, but you should have finished the rehab first and then consolidated. If I'm not mistaken, the default will now stay on your credit report.
Credit wise rehab would have been the better option. On filin

On filing the taxes...call and check with your old guarantor. They filed on your 2007 taxes and they need some time to notifiy the IRS.
