How is it a public record? I know it will show up on your credit report, but can someone search your name on Google and pull it up? Is it readily available to the general public?

I don't know if it shows up on Google, but bankruptcies are public court documents, are sometimes printed in the newspaper, and (I believe) any one who goes to the court house and searches, will see BK's listed. I think it is also viewable on legal programs such as Lexis-Nexis.
