nope. I have been looking but most of the items on the internet listed as "work at home" are just really "scam scam scam". There is a webpage out there called Ripoff Reports. I strongly suggest checking there prior to starting any work at home project. They have stopped me from making some REAL mistakes in trying to start a work from home project. What I don't understand is I know that there are some valid work from home jobs out there, but I don't know how to find them. I am praying that God will direct me to the right thing. If I find something, I'll be glad to share it with you.

thanks, same here.. i had a second job at a department store but i lost it because i had to take off due to a family emergency and i was still on my 90 day probation (it was agreed on hire that any time off in the first 90 days = being let go) I'm so devastated, it wasn't much extra money but it really helped..

I too have checked out many work at home scams. Most of them just want you to pay maney for their "secret" information. I am currently doing a recruiting job from home, but it is commission only, and so far I've earned nothing! A key point to keep in mind is that if they want you to pay them money, they are most likely not legitimate.

yea, I would never pay anything in advance.. i just don;t have much free time to go to a traditional second job.. besides working full time, i am a caretaker in my family (one sick, one mentally ill). something i could do at home would really help me out. working the second job helped but the truth is i really was getting burned out. I am still looking for more traditional jobs but would love one at home, if possible.
When I worked in retail, i know we had mystery shoppers who came in and reviewed our store. I also know people who worked at restraunts who had experienced with mystery shoppers pretending to be customers. so i know it's out there.

I bought a lifetime membership at a site called homejobstop(dot)com. They list supposedly legitimate work at home jobs. That's where I found the one that I am doing. The company that I am working for is a legitimate company, but, as I said, it is commission only, and so far I've earned nothing. When I joined that site, it was only $18 for a lifetime membership, but I think it's now $24. MOST (but maybe not all) of the jobs that I checked into from that site seemed to be legitimate. However, the companies do get a lot of applicants so most of the ones that I looked into weren't hiring at the time. New jobs are added on a fairly regular basis though. Just something to look into if you're interested. I did find that site to be better than one other site that I also joined for almost twice as much money for a year long membership.

thanks for the tip.. like i said, i am looking into everything i can! i wouldn;t mind paying $18 if it's real.. I just really need something.. I am looking into anything and everything (LoL, everything thats legal, of course!!)

I have tried searching for work at home options as well, and like you said normally they are scams. A legit program shouldn't charge you any fees. That goes for GPT programs too. YOu should never have to pay to be a member.

did U guys tried westathome.com yet. no advanced fee and a little extra. I found that job thru the acs center here on Base. Kinda nice cause I am the one making my schedule and I get 7.50 an houre. but that depends on what company you take calls for. there are days they are in desperate need and pay a ourly bonus on top if you sign ub for extra hours. Last month I made extra 380$. It works for me.

Yes, I've done West before. I did only one company, but it was HARD for me. You also can't have any features on your phone, and it didn't pay me to get a seperate phone line like they suggested. All and all, I couldn't find any hours that I could do, when i did get hours--- I got scared and confused about the whole system. I'm usually good about that kind of stuff, but for some reason this one was overwhelming for me. You sound like you are doing good though. Maybe if I would have had a different case it would have been better.

Can I ask for what type company you took calls for? Because At the beginning I had a diffrent one and felt like you!! I changed to home again and do really good. It's just an earlie morning job for me but Yeah I do good on there and the money for staying at home is good too. No Gas no dress code. Before that I was working in Sales made 7$ an houre had to pay gas to go to work plus daycare plus dress code etc. There is another Company out there Just can't think of the name now something like live ops or so they do the same you just need to find out if this would be for you!!

I, too, am forever searching for online ways to make money - i never found anything too life changing though :)
Scams??
Sullivana says "I have tried searching for work at home options as well, and like you said normally they are scams. A legit program shouldn't charge you any fees." And alias 1958 says "A key point to keep in mind is that if they want you to pay them money, they are most likely not legitimate.
These statements are accurate in the "work from home supplemental income" world only if you are an employee. There are two types of stay at home jobs: 1. you work for someone else's business as an employee : :( and 2. you work for yourself as the business owner.
You should never have to pay your "employer" for the right to work for them. That's a scam for sure! However the idea of becoming a business owner or employer with zero dollars out of pocket is equally as silly. Franchising is a perfect example. McDonalds will charge you a Million dollars just to use their franchise name, then you have to build your own store, then you have to hire highschoolers before you can sell your first Big Mac for $3.00. Who here thinks that a McDonalds is a scam or "not legitimate"? Those who do not have millions to invest in a "Home based business" simply have to decide how much they are interested in spending and do their homework. People become home based business owners with as little as 300 to 500 dollars. Good Luck!

I've tried finding legitimate home-based businesses to supplement my income, but I never have any luck. Most of the ones I've come across require you to spend money up front, which just says "SCAM" to me, not to mention that most times, even if I wanted to pay the money, I don't have it to begin with, lol.

I have mentioned this to bea2ls and it is something to looking into....may be for you and may not...but it is helping me a bit, even though I am just getting started in it. I am doing Pampered Chef. I get to work my own schedule and can work as much or as little as I want. Last month, for just 3 parties...1 was my grand opening, 1 was a cooking show, 1 was a catalog show, I made $300. So far, I have had a blast doing this. I never thought I could get up in front of people and do this, but I have found that it is easier than I thought because I am meeting the people as they come in, getting a chance to talk to them before the show and feel a little more relaxed. I have had a ball! Yes, there is a "start up" cost, but it is for your PC kit which includes all kinds of cookware, utinsels, all kinds of stuff, which you get to keep and use. you will also receive some paperwork, catalogs, etc to start you off. The kit is $155 (plus tax) but you get $500 worth of stuff. Now to June they are offering a mini kit for $65. You also get to earn what they call pampered chef dollars, which you can use to purchase items or supplies with. And there is a website that once you qualify, you get free for 90 days and then it is $96 a year. This is your own business. All the things you purchase for you business, including your kit, can be used as a tax write off along with mileage, etc. The hardest part is getting those first shows, but that is nothing more than promoting it and contacting friends and family and going from there. If anyone is interested in checking this out, send me a PM and I will give you my website address.
Now like everything else, not all things are right for everyone, so just see if it would fit into your life style and schedule. Might be worth checking it out and if you decide this is something you want to do, I will help you out getting things rolling.

I've known a lot of people who make decent money doing things like that (Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef), but I'm horrible at it. I cannot sell things to other people for crap and it's kind of depressing how bad I am at it, lol.

regbyandjulie ~ For the most part, at least what I know about PC, it usually sells itself. When I do a show, I have pointed out things like the stoneware cannot be washed with soap because it is porous and will absorb the soap and that the more you use it the more it gets seasoned, if there is something new, I try to point it out and basically answer any questions. I also demonstrate a recipe that I have (with pc) and get everyone else involved.
Avon is much the same way except when new fragrances come out, people want to know what they smell like before they buy and Mary Kay, people want to see the shades and how they look before they buy.
MK and PC ~ you are a demonstrator basically. That is really all. Anything like this that one chooses to do, you need to keep a positive attitude and say yes I can! LOL

Also, to the OP (even if this is an old topic, lol) if you work at a preschool, maybe you could try advertising yourself to some of the parents as a babysitter? Or something like that. I think a lot of teachers are in a good position to offer either tutoring or child care services since they already work in that feel. It's something to look into at any rate.

How about an alternative to an official job?
If you're staying home with kids, could you watch another child of similar age?
Depending where you live, you could also clear about $100/wk cleaning one house (about 4 hrs). If you pick up 2 homes, you can clean them on alternate weeks.

I am not sure if you are in the same boat and still looking for supplemental income, but if you are, I think I have something that you would love and find very helpful.
About 9 months ago I was very much in the same situation, I am a stay at home mom with 5 kids under 10. We were trying to live off just my husbands income mainly because the cost of child care would outweight what I could make (I have an AA degree, but that is it and have been out of the work force for a long time) My husband was making a decent living but we just needed a few hundred extra dollars just to get by. Making a long story short I found an incredible "work from home" opportunity that is a real business, with a real business plan. I am making an extra $1500 a month and LOVE what I do. The best option I can think of for you is babysitting for your friends, family, or even just putting out ads. I think it's a legitimate way to make some extra money if you don't want the option of a regular part time job, it might be a little easier on you. Otherwise a part time job would be an option too. The only other thing I can think of is to set up an ebay business or going to a pawn shop for some extra cash. Sorry, I don't think there's any easy way at least from what I know. Unfortunately most of the answers you'll probably get on here are spam, so watch out. Good luck, hope I helped.
