I have been the latest victim of Ellis Crosby & Associa

Hello. My name is Kristin and I have been the latest victim of this company, however, I am happy to announce that a suit has been filed against them by the Florida Attorney General. Here is a link:

I experienced their threat on Tuesday, October 11, and as a result have borrowed $745 from my father and paid this amount via Western Union Quick Collect to the company which is known as Ellis Crosby & Associates. The representative that I dealt with was named Amber Williams. She first contacted me to notify me that at 5:30 PM information would be downloaded to the Hartford County police authorities who would then come to my job to visually identify me, and I would be arrested. She said that she was calling simply to notify me of my legal rights. Through a series of fake events such as transferring me to the Hartford County authorities to speak to a “Mr. Ford” who posed as a police officer and began to yell at me and tell me that I better come up with $1200 before the next day, I paid $470 for one account with their office on Tuesday, October 11, and then was told that I had to pay an additionally $275 for another account with their office by 12:30 PM on October 12. Amber then told me that I have to pay the remaining $465 by midnight on October 16, 2005 or they will “download” the information to Hartford County police and have me arrested.

The day after this incident I was in disarray and then somehow saw a number for one of the creditors that they claimed to be representing. The creditor had contacted me the week before and so I gave them a call and they told me that Ellis Crosby was nothing but a sham, and that they were being sued by the Florida Attorney General. I was so happy to hear this, but I am still recovering from the emotional distress of this incident. It almost tore my relationship apart! Not to mention my poor father had to give me the money and I know he cannot afford it and I cannot afford to pay him back.

I would love any advise anyone has on where I should go from here in terms of getting back the money 

Hi Kristin

Welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear that you have lost the hard earned money of your father to a scam. Ellis Crosby had been in violation of the federal laws since 6 months or so and had been using illegal methods to recover money from the consumers.

Many people like you have lost their hard earned money to this company and filed their complaints at the FTC, BBB and the local attorney general office in Florida and in your state. The numerous complaints of the consumers forced the attorney general to take legal actions and as a result they are out of business.

I hope that you will also file your complaints at the government bureaus and get some justice.

Regards
Roxette
