Budget Cuts In Income Contingent Program/Direct Loan

I read on a forum that the William D.Ford Direct Loan
Program that contains the income contingent program may be cut by congress. Anyone know this to be true?

dream,

Direct loans are Federal funds allocated to students through their respective institutions and it really helps a lot while continuing higher education. The proposed budget for the financial year 2006 aims FFEL to be the main source of student aid. But at the same time it recommends a well maintained Direct Loan program also.

This budget seems to be an effort to reform the whole Student Loan Program. Expected credit allocation for Direct Loans is $ 22,427 millions for the year 2006.

It does not appear that Direct Loan Program is going to be cancelled. If anyone has some more information please post here.

Thanks
Bryan
