Student Loan

I had a student loan with Stafford. I never once received a bill and now acording to my credit report, they filed a claim with the government. What does that mean and can I stop it? What rights do I have?

break, I'm not an expert on student loans, etc. But many forum members are. Hang tight and someone with the knowledge to answer your question will be along! :D

Is the loan in deferrment or repayment? The claim is serious and needs to be dealt with. They are moving forward to take action such as wage garnishment and withholding tax returns, as examples. And no they dont need to file a judgement.

You need to call them asap!!!!!!!! This is NOT like the PDL's that we've been helping you with...this is the real deal.
