CBA Collection Bureau of America – what is the customer feedback?
I already sent the validation request off to them, hopefully that will settle things, and when they try to validate it they will see its already paid.
CBA Collection Bureau of America payment
Wilson, you must be having the details of your payment made to CBA Collection Bureau of America in your credit report also. This is also a sufficient proof.
CBA Collection Bureau weird name
The name, CBA Collection Bureau of America, itself is weird. Wait until cba collection bureau validate your debt before you pay ANYTHNG. If cba dont send you anything, then don't pay. Did you keep any receipts of your payment?
CBA Collection Bureau of America feedback
I'll never pay CBA Collection Bureau of America anything, as I paid comcast on August 16th, a little over two weeks before the date of the letter they sent me.
I paid Comcast with my Debit card and and have the Bank 's reference numeber for the transaction. I am hoping if cba Collection Bureau do as they are supposed to and are actually a upstanding company and they properly validate the debt, Comcast will tell them it's been paid and they should basically go away. Otherwise, if they say its a valid debt, then I will hit them with the bank record.
AS this little experiment progresses, I will post my experiences (good or bad) with CBA Collection Bureau so if anyone else has dealings in the future, cba Collection Bureau may have an idea what to expect.
First Update
WEll cba Collection Bureau did actually sign for one of the validation requests I sent them. I was half expecting them to play the game of not signing for it. For future reference, this is the one sent to their office address, not the PO Box address.
Update on CBA Collection Bureau of America
I was shocked today when I went to my mailbox and found a letter from CBA Collection Bureau stating the account is paid in full AND verifying my account HAS NOT and WILL NOT be reported to any credit reporting agency.
As we all get frustrated with the Ellis Crosby's and Allied Assets of the world, its nice to know there are companies out there that do business as they are supposed to without resorting to harassment, threats and intimidation.
yes, and we should bring out those companies in limelight.

Collection Bureau of America
I have just recently had experience with cba collection bureau and for a similar reason. This company has been sending me collection notices for a supposed debt to Comcast. However, every time I speak to someone at Comcast they say I have a balance of $0 on my account at the previous address. They also have told me they don't send their accounts out to a collection agency. They do the collections within their own company. I called the phone # on the collections bill and the man who answered didn't even sound like a professional business. He answered by saying "Hello, uh I mean, Collections, Collection Bureau... can I help you?" That's an exact quote. Doesn't sound like a real collection agency to me. And, when I told him he was mistaken and that I do not owe Comcast any money and I would not be paying this bill he sent, he said "Well, whatever." and hung up on me. Anyone receiving a bill from cba collection bureau should report them to the Better Business Bureau without sending them money.
CBA Collection Bureau America is a fraud company
Be careful,CBA Collection Bureau America from Hayward is a fraud company that will continue to haress you for the interest even when you have paid the full amount. With their own calculations they come up with some silly amount of interest and then they chase you through automated phone calls. CBA Collection Bureau will call you at odd times like 4 AM in the morning, 11pm at night and sometimes 7 to 8 times a day. If you have already paid the original company, now they want the interest on that delayed payment. That is their commission. Recently Washington Hospital in Fremont has hired them and this agency is creating hell for everyone.
cba
well... tey are a licenced and bonded collection agency. Having worked for the company for over 6 years through merger, sale, and transfer they are 100% legit and a very good company to work for. By the way Federal Law states they have to verify the info only durring the first 30 days, but if you deal with respect they will give you respect

fraud collections
I received a collections notice from cba collection bureau for a bill to my city. I researched the company on the Internet. They are definitely a scam trying to get your credit card number.
check your facts
I think good ethics needs to check the facts. They are not a scam, and are a licenced and bonded collection agency and have been in business for over 50 yrs. check with the city business licence dept they will verify they are legit

Their automated machine has been hounding me 7days a week up to 2 calls a day but refuse to verify any information. Every person I talk to says I owe a different amount of money from $270-$1800 dollars. They say I have past due accounts dating back to 1991, and they are unable to send faxes and unwilling to contact anyone on my behalf. They think that just becuase they have my phone number I should be willing to divulge all of my personal information to them. When I contact the original biller they say there is nothing for me to verify for payment since they cannot match up any of the debt they are claiming to bills that I accrued. Not sure what to do next
WATCH OUT!:CBA Collection Bureau of America
THEY ARE A TOTAL SCAM!!!! This company sends out bogus bills (that look official) in hope that you will just pay them. When I contacted them to tell them I had closed my account months ago and that it was paid in full, the guy said "oh, ok, we'll take care of it and hung up." Mind you he had none of my information so I have no idea how he could "take care of it." Just to be safe I contacted my old cable company and sure enough they said I was fine and that they don't hire Collection Bureau of America for anything. Report Collection Burea of America to the Better Business Burea, I did.
Real CBA Collection Bureau of America
cba collection bureau is 100% real! if you dont believe it dont pay your bill and look at your credit report in a few months, i should know, i work for them!

Yeah. Right. Sure they are. And I'm young and good-lookin', too.

I never received any letters fro Collection Bureau of America in Hayward, CA instead i found it on my credit report, so when I called I said all you had to do was send me a letter to pay and it would of been. I was called a dead beat, a con artist. so I hung up on that person and decided to do payments using Bill pay service and guess what! i never received any confirmation from Collection Bureau of America in Hayward, CA and they are not updating my credit report. to reflect the payments. so i called them back and was told they never received any payments from my bank. But yet I have the confirmation that they not only received it but it was deposited into there account so I decided to Google the FCRA. ( ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcrajump.shtm ) and read my rights and used that to get the item removed. And it was removed from my credit reports J but they did re-add it back to the credit report so I was able to get it removed again. J to this very day the account is paid off with payments (not in full) but they still claim they received nothing.
That what happened to me.

If you have paid on the account then they need to at least reflect the payments made on the account. For willfully and negligently reporting inaccurate information, which both are violations of the FCRA (total of 6 violations so far) I would suggest filing complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and your state Attorney General's office. If you need/want to file suit for this you can. I would estimate at this point statutory damages to be between $3,000-$6,000.
they are legit but they seem like a bunch of morons
my wife had a bill in 2005 with att paid in full for less than amount to a collection agency. now in 2008 CBA must have bought the debt (already paid??) and sent a notice to pay a totally different amount for that account. These guys obviously don't know what the hell is going on. I got a copy of my wife's credit report, on which the crazy new bill appears from these goons, and i called att. I spoke for about an hour with a nice lady who gave me some precious information such as a match of the account number that these guys are trying to collect, which shows as paid in full according to the credit report. I was advised to have CBA talk to CCA (Collection Company of America), but they said "We don't talk to other collection companies (because they smell funny and they look like dorks)". So i am going to call CCA and get proof of payment and send it to CBA and hopefully they will clear the matter up beofre some other moron sends us a third bill.

TJ, are you for real? have you not seen the posts in this thread? The people getting hounded for bills that either never existed or were already paid off long ago? Comcast bills, when Comcast itself says "we dont ever use that collection agency"?? Mind you--the comcast bills were NOT resold--at least one of them was for a current comcast customer!
But hey, just keep on dreaming. Maybe if you repeat to yourself how great these scam artists are, you will actually start to believe it. But no one else here will.
Collection Bureau of America
I started working for them and I know what goes on. They are a very honest company and they collect for clients who turn their accts that are past due to them to collect on. This is normal people. Pay your bills and you won't have calls from them. I know the laws. I am viced in Business Law and in the FTCPA. I am sorry that you cannot pay your bills on time.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
first off, it's fdcpa, not FTCPA. If you were really so "viced" in the law as you claimed, you would have known that. hell, i've seen CAs that dont follow it worth a damn that can at least spell the acronym properly....
second, you clearly dont know how to read....comcast is telling people that they dont use this CA, and youre saying that this CA is contracted by these companies. Clearly, one of you is lying, and given the choice, there is no reason for comcast to lie about it. And, since youre so "viced" on the law, you should know that any dishnoesty in the course of debt collection is against the FT--er, sorry, I mean the FDCPA

Credit Bureau of America Comcast scam
Today I received an automated call claiming I owe over $500 to Comcast. I called CBA and was told this is from 2006. It is now 2008. Comcast has never told me of a problem and is still my current provider. So I called Comcast and was told that they show no problem and my account is current and has been for the past 4 years. Called back CBA and they claim the debt was "verified" through their automated box(?). What does that mean? I asked for the name of their contact person at Comcast and they don't know. Could any of you that work for Credit Bureau of America explain how this happened?
...
The fiancee was recently contacted by CBA's automated phone service. She was told she owed AT&T ~ $120.
In April 2007, her identity was stolen and an AT&T account was opened in her name. She was alerted by AT&T, who sent her a letter informing her of the account. Of course, the letter arrived three months after the account had been opened.
She immediately took care of the situation, even having the local police call AT&T to confirm that this was a case of fraud. AT&T told her that the account was closed, and all was fine.
SO, now the call from CBA comes, with no prior contact from AT&T or CBA. Credit Report shows the CBA account as an unpaid debt in collections. CBA told her to contact AT&T, and AT&T can't find the account.
I have essentially no credit, as I've paid and closed all my accounts. The Fiancee had very good credit, but this can't help. We need good credit, as I just graduated, and am about to start a new job, so we have to move.
We don't have any knowledge about credit agencies and such. Can anyone help us? What should we do? Advice?
Send CBA a DV letter and have them prove that she owes the debt.

You should have your fiancee file a identity theft complaint with local law enforcement if she has not already done so. Then forward a copy of the ID theft complaint with case number to the CA in question.

update.
Thanks for the advice guys!
Linda, when CBA originally contacted the fiancee via telephone this last week, they were very unprofessional. When my fiancee explained that the AT&T account was fraudulent, and had been taken care of over a year ago, she was offered no help whatsoever, and given no details. Rather, she was simply told to contact AT&T.
She has faxed AT&T a copy of her credit report in which the potentially negative item is listed. Still, AT&T cannot even locate the account. Every person contact at AT&T has neither known the details of this account nor how it can be resolved.
CBA was contacted just yesterday, and an agent claimed that the debt is being deleted and in the process of being removed from the credit report-- a process that can take up to 3 months!?-- as of the 2nd. Why the 2nd, when AT&T has made no progress in even being able to locate the account, and CBA had not been contacted since the initial call, which did not occur on the 2nd? We fear that the agent may have been dishonest, attempting only to end the call quickly. It seems a bit of a stretch to infer such intentions, but not after going 'round and 'round with various credit card companies immediately after the identity was stolen last year. We were told different stories every time, and had we believed the first one, and had not been persistant, we'd have been in big trouble.
We will contact CBA again tomorrow and inquery about the claimed debt. Hopefully the response will be consistent with the previous, so that we don't have to waste even more time. If CBA's story doesn't change when a new agent is contacted, is there anything that can be done speed up this removal?
Thanks!

UPDATE:
So, after CBA informed us that the account was being removed, Bay Area Credit Services contacted us attempting to collect the debt. We were unable to obtain any information regarding the means by which they had obtained the account.
We sent both agencies DV letters through registered mail. Today we heard back from CBA, who have dropped the account as of the day that they received our DV letter.
On one hand, this is excellent news, but on the other, WTF? Why does it take a letter invoking federal law to get an obvious fraudulent account cleared? Why did they have this account to begin with?
Now we just need to wait and see what happens with Bay Area Credit Services...
Thannks all. Your advice has SAVED US. We are trying to move right now, so this will give us evidence that the negative item on our credit is bunk. THANKS!!!!
Horror in the Hands of CBA
These kleptomaniacs where instructed by ATT to come and harrass me over an amount they said I owe them. I do not owe them any such amount as I had returned the ATT equipment as required by ATT. I sent the thieves a copy of the UPS tracking showing that the equipment was actually delivered and told them to let me go...in peace.
I am surprised that they have reported me to the 3 collection agencies. Does anyone know if I can sue these rogues?
My dealings
I received a message about a month or so ago from this company. The message said that it was in regards to an urgent matter. When I finally called back I learned that it was in regards to an old Sprint bill. The female I spoke to was really rude because I told her that I had no idea when I would be paying on this account. She then informed me that they will be calling everyday until the debt has been paid. I politely told her that that would be fine because I will not be answering the phone. I have not received a phone call from them since. I don't even know how they got my number. Since then I have been doing some research to validate them. Just as soon as I can I am going to call Sprint to find out who they sold my debt to.
CBA committing fraud?
To try snd sum it up, I had an ambulance bill on my credit report going back to 2001. It was listed with Collection Agency A. It rolled off my report as it had been 7 years, now I go to check my report and see CBA listed on there for the same debt and amount.
CBA lists the debt as opening in January 2008, with date of status and reported since June 2008. I know they purchased the debt from the previous agency. Are they allowed to do this since the initial seven years have passed? Thanks.
CBA letter
I received a letter from this company claiming I owe DS Water of North America. We used to have water delivery from Belmont Springs but closed the account two or three years ago. We do not owe them money! Should I send a letter to CBA asking them to validate the debt or just ignore it?
shelly moon
This organization is a crock up to all manners of skullduggery. I had a water service from belmont springs and they didn't or couldn't even tell me my service address nor what this bill was for. I closed my service in june of 2005 and to my astonishment i get these harrasing phone calls and letters but they can't credit report me without having a social security number to use. Always ask if they have one on file. The person i talked to there was rude and unintelligible then obnoxious when i asked to speak to a supervisor they disconnected the call. Never deal with future fastfood employees and the unethical organizations.

the bills are real but they can't verify simple things like the address of service and social security number ?? Then cant talk to a person like a human..then have a unholy machine call your phone at all hours..then put you on hold..then they ask me why i called? wth? ''thank you would you like fries with that letter''? They wouldn't even email me !!

On the ambulance bill: No, that can NOT do that. No matter who has the account, it can only be reported for the 7 years. I would DV the CA and once you get the green card back I would dispute with the CRAs, I would enclose a copy of the older credit report to show them that they reported the item and that it already fell off. They will either drop it or the CA will verify it. Well, if they verify it and it doesn't drop off you have BOTH the CA and the CRAs....for one the CRAs should have removed it on their end w/o even contacting the company, since you clearly show them it is a case of illegal reaging.....if need be you could sue BOTH the CA and the CRAs for continuing to report this aged account.
As for the last post, I agree. I hate those calls that are a recording asking you to hold, or those that call and tell you to call them back. I am sorry, but I have a life and my time is precious. It is the ultimate of rude for them to call and put me on hold. I always hang up, if they want to talk to me they can darn well be on the other end when I pick up.

I am having a lot of issues here. I've been trying to apply for a credit card but have not been approved because there is a Negative Item on my credit report that CBA put on there. The account supposedly came from AT&T but I have NEVER opened any accounts with AT&T before!!!
I had both Transunion and Experian look into the matter and Transunion verified that it was not my account and removed it from the file but Experian kept it on there!
So what do I do now? I know it's not mine because I have never had any accounts with AT&T so how can I get them to remove it from my record? I would prefer not to contact CBA if possible because of all the problems that others have been having with them harassing people here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
