Senior citizen in debt. can anyone help?

I am a 75 year old senior citizen.

I have 8 credit cards with a total balance of $84,000.

I am behind on all of them.

I do have approximately $100,000 equity in my house.

I don't know where to turn.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi cable652

At your situation, debt consolidation will be a better choice for you. But just like that, have you given any thought to chapter 7 bankruptcy. Please go through this page http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/chapter-7-bankruptcy.html for your updated information. Also, you can through this whole site and enrich your knowledge before you make any prospective move.

Debt consolidation will help you to consolidate all your loan amounts into one single amount and that will become much easier for you to remember and to pay back. Remember, debt consolidation will also enable you to get a lower monthly rate of interest and the monthly payments to be paid will also be minimum and affordable.

Give a thought and keep in touch

HI,

In light of all of the late fee charges and your increasing interest rates, you should consider I think consolidation or a settlement. You need to immediately reign in those interest rates because they are probably mounting as we speak due to your late payments. So you should seriously look into consolidation if your are able to make monthly payments. This would reduce your interest rates and your monthly payments.

You should not borrow against your home. In your situation, that would be like playing with fire. You have an 85 grand debt and your house is worth 100 grand. You would essentially be giving up close to 90 percent ownership in your home. You don't have to take that risk. You can consolidate without using collateral.

Do you still have an income? If you don't, consult with your credit companies to see if they have any hardship programs for people who are going through difficult economic times. most companies have this. If you do not have a steady income, then you should look into settling this debt. You should definitely consult with a credit counselor in order to determine your next course of action. They would also probably consult inform you that you do not have to file bankruptcy. there is still hope in your situation.

Sorry for the delay....thanks for your input. My concern is that most of these debts are in collections...one has even filed suit...I could make substantial payments and have talked to a settlement firm, but in doing research online, I have found so many good and BAD things reported about both settlement and consolidation firms...frankly, I am scared and don't know who to turn to. I do want to pay my debt...AND the most important thing is keeping my house.

I do appreciate your input. I don't want to file bankruptcy, but not sure a consolidation/settlement firm can help me at this late date.

How do you find one you can trust?

Once again, this senior citizen is much obliged.

Hi cable652

I was just waiting to hear from you. I can understand your feelings if I put myself in your place. When we get to hear so much about the companies who try to cheat the people and make money, it puts anyone in a puzzle. But looking the other way, if we just keep on thinking like this, we won't be doing anything to make any positive changes to wipe off our debts. And that debt will keep on growing further. We need to trust someone for sure as we are in that end where we need help. And these are the companies who are offering help to us and remain in the stronger side.

But as far as I have reviewed this company and seeing myself coming out of the debt problems, I can assure you from my side that this company has done something for the welfare of the community. When these guys are offering help to us, it seems that they don't come half the way. They come all the way to take the pain from the lives of the debt struck people.

I hope you will feel stronger after hearing from me. You have learned much from your experience and your age and I will always ask you to make decisions wisely and not with haste.

Keep in touch
Roxette
