Confused by Langhorne

I recently signed up with Langhorne debt solutions to assist me with my payday loan HELL, I recently signed on to my account to view the list of lenders that I borrowed money from and beside the amount that I borrowed on 4 of the lenders it either said collections or recovery. What do you believe this may mean? :?:

I think the lenders have sent your file to collections. Ask Langhorne to work out direct payment arrangements with the lenders because they must have hired the collection agency for recovering the debt instead of selling your file. If this works out, you won't have to deal with the CA and they won't report to the bureaus.

A lot of payday lenders sell their loans as soon as they go into default. Hiring a collection agency is the exception rather than the rule. And most of the payday loan lenders and debt buyers don't report to anyone except CL Verify and Teletrack which just means you won't be able to get more payday loans. I'd just call Langhorne and ask them what's going on instead of worrying about it.

I think a lot of payday lenders have their own collection agency working for them. They always talk about 'going to collections' but the one I know most about Geneva Roth, I had Smith, Haynes and Watson (or something like that) contact me about payment. Turns out this company is in the same building right next door to Geneva Roth.

I did know that collection agencies can report to credit bureaus, but are most of them legal themselves or are they operating like the PDLs are? Should I be worried about the ones I haven't heard from yet, my credit report is already trashed from everything else I couldn't pay when I got in the PDL cycle, I don't want those on there too!

poko, like stated above, most pdl's are unlicensed/illegal. If they turn you over to collections, it is most likely "in house" - it's them. If they do turn you over to an outside collection agency, check to see if they're even licensed. More than likely they won't be licensed/legal. Why in the world would an illegal pdl send an illegal debt to an "honest" collection agency. They wouldn't unless they are stupider than we already thought. However, even if they did, all you would have to do is send them a debt validation letter. Let the illegal pdl validate their illegal transaction. That should be fun. And as far as these illegal pdl's and/or illegal collection agencies showing up on your credit report, doubtful, but don't count on anything. Pull your credit report & check it. If there are any illegal companies on there reporting you, send a dispute in.

I am sorry to see that you wasted your cah with langhorne. I am also going to assume that they contacted you. The reason is they find out who has payday loans and call or email them. They know that you got the loans before you did. Then after several months of paying them you realize that only 50% of your funds went to your debts. PDL companies generally wont work with these consolidation companies. Your best bet is to negotiate creditor and set up payments on the balance owed.

bradleybus - I just need to post that I have been with Langhorne since the end of March and could not have expected any better service. Everyone there has worked with me to settle these debts. I do believe that if you have a minimum number of these loans that you can handle them yourself but in my case I had so many that going with Langhorne was my best decision. I did not receive any of the harassing calls, mail or emails. I was able to put my efforts back into doing my job without dealing with these companies. Everyone on here knows that it is very time consuming to fight these PDL companies. It was worth their fees to get my life back. I cannot imagine where I would be right now if I had not signed on with Langhorne. I spoke with Dennis Williams himself and he explained the whole collection process of each company. Yes, he does know individuals with some of the companies and can work out better deals than any of us could. I just don't want everyone think they are the bad guys. Everyone has to look at their own situation and decide what is best for them. Yes, there are fees with these companies but how much is your time worth to you. You decide.

Thank you, motomom! "Bradley" was on here having some fun last night. As you can see. Thank you for letting everyone know of your experience with Langhorne! :D

Way to go motomom! I had spoken with Langhorne and I was already in the process of 'doing it myself' so I knew the difference in cost. I decided not to go with them because I could do it myself for much cheaper, plus I absolutely did not have any extra money to set a side, and I still don't. I'm still skirting the due dates on many things right now waiting until I'm no longer in a one income household.

And I figured by the time I had money to start paying Langhorne, then I'd have the money to start paying back the pdls, at a much lower cost to me. I only have to deal with the constant worrying, checking my phone messages, making phone calls, checking up here all the time when I should be working, not being able to concentrate at work... and all that good stuff. But I would be going through that anyway since I couldn't start the payment plan with Langhorne.

They seemed like a good company to me. The Rep I talked to was a little pushy in trying to get me to sign up but she was nice enough, and not ever rude. But I agree motomom, it is definitely how much and how many you are in for that will make it worth your time and money.

My rep was Michele. She was for sure aggressive but it has worked well for me. She is at least honest and up front with you. She says you have to eat first and these guys can wait if necessary.

I agree, I'm making mine wait, just did the math and figured I have 1090 to repay all of my 5 loans. I remember being quoted 200 something a month into savings, so total it would have cost me over 2400, but like you said, it was worth it for you to have the piece of mind, and not get any of those calls or anything. I thought I would be willing to pay for that piece of mind myself, but when it came down to it, and I had already begun the do-it-yourself process, I just couldn't think to spend the extra. Hopefully it was the right decision for me. But I did get a Cease and Desist order for Geneva Roth from the State of Oregon out of it.

I'm glad there is one of each of us to share our story, so people can read and truely decide which option is best for them.

Amen! That's what's so fantastic! Some people do it themselves. Some people use Langhorne. Some people use T&C. Some people do nothing. It's wonderful! How else would any of us learn anything if it wasn't for the fact that so many people take so many different avenues? And how would any of us learn anything if so many people didn't have so many different opinions? It's awesome! :D

I heard that they make the deal with the companies, so yeah listen to Bossy and ask them if they can settle, also ask if this is a company they've worked with before and how the settlement has gone for other people. Asking questions is a good way to let these people know that you want to be informed and want to work at getting it settled. It seems to placate a lot of people.

I've heard that they can settle, but it will be actually you who will send the money, so you do get to play an active roll in the whole situation.
