Closed Bank Account

I thought maybe I could offer a little encourgement to those, worried about talking to their bank about their PDL's. I was a little nervous and embarrassed to walk in my bank and explain my PDL issues, but I have to say they were absolutely wonderful about it, very understanding. I did open a new checking account at the same bank, credit union actually (I know this is not recommended), I was worried since my credit is so awful I would have problems opening one somewhere else. Anyway they assured me, there was no way my closed account would be forced open, and they would not debit my new account, and I would not incur any fees. I did get this in writing, and they also noted my account on the computer. I did give them copies of all my revoke authorization letters. I am still going to wait some time before I have my check directly deposited into my new account, I will just keep an eye on things. It is a relief to have gotten that step out of the way. My PDL's will be in default this Friday when they try to hit my closed account, so we'll see what happens, I'm sure my phone will be ringing off the hook!

Good luck. I am happy to see that some banks/credit unions are willing to help. And that you got that in writing will help you even more if something does happen to your old/new account.

Just wait on the phone calls. Depending on who you have your loans through they may call your work 10 million times a day and want to speak with your supervisor or HR director. So be prepared. It can get nasty.

With the calls, all you have to do is not answer the ones from numbers you don't know. Or if you want to you can contact them yourself first and make sure they know they cannot call you at work. They will fill up your voice mail, thats if they leave a message lol. Like I said in the post earlier, it depends on the lenders you are dealing with. Some of them are nuts and some can be nice and want to work with you. But if you do decide to pay them anything pay by money order or pre paid debit cards or visa gift cards. Do not use western union or money gram that cost too much. If they want their money bad enough they will accept a money order.

Good luck!!! You are on you way of being PDL free :)

Did you send out letters to revoke any wage assignments that you may have authorized and give a copy to your HR director? If you have been debited by a group called Northland on your statement they will try to go right for your paycheck. Your employer has no legal obligation to honor this but may not realize it. Northland is called Cash Transfer Centers among others. There are a few others that use this also. One member had half her paycheck given to these crooks because her HR person was ignorant of the law.

Yes I did send out letters, but I have not given them to HR. I guess I better do that. I don't believe I have anything associated with Northland. My PDL's are

CashNet USA - legal
PayDayOne - legal
Fast & Reliable Cash - ?
Quickest-Cash-Advance - Illegal
Crown Lending - ?
Nationwide Cash - ?
Loan Point/Geneva Roth - ?

I'm pretty sure the ones with ?'s are illegal, but I could be wrong.
