PA - please help?

I'm stuck in a payday loan cycle in PA - does anyone know of a viable solution to help me get out of this mess?!?!

CashnetUSA: borrowed 750, repaid $187.50
United Cash: borrowed 250, repaid 225
Magnum Z: borrowed 300, repaid 300
Webpayday: borrowed 300, repaid 462.50
OneClickCash: borrowed 300, repaid 475
Cashnet: borrowed 300, repaid 105
Advance America: borrowed 500, repaid 300

Anything I can do?

Please see this thread about Advance America -

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/advanceamerica.html

I would call the dept of banking in PA and ask them what you should do about your loan with them. They are trying to get refunds for all the overpayments, so it is possible you will not have to pay anymore.

Also, you will want to close your bank account. Please read this thread:

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/close-account.html

About some important information you need to know before you close the account.

Cash Net USA is operating legally in PA. The other's aren't going to be licensed.

Going to work on sending letters and closing my bank account today........

What happens next? Can the illegal ones do anything to me once I stop allowing them access to my bank account? I feel a little bit more hopeful having seen the forums here, but I've gotta admit that I'm still very nervous.......

My understanding is there is nothing you can really do about the phone calls. I am waiting for mine to start too... I have been advised to send them to voice mail if possible and then make notes. Some also will tell you to have your coworkers and you all tell them you no longer work there. I told my coworkers not to answer my phone and to let it go to voice mail. I also let them know there had been illegal activities in my checking account, I closed the account and now the illegal copmanies are harassing me. They all agreed to do what they could to help. I am sure others will give you advice as well.

Of course, ALOT of us have gotten' caught up' in the PDL thing. I'm from PA, too. I found out ALL of the PDL's I had ( and I had about 6 of them) were illegal in the state of PA). I have gotten letters, from CA's who claim to 'represent' these companies. but, I have NEVER gotten a letter from the PDL companies, themselves. I explained to my bank about ALL of hese loans. My bank was great in working with me on these. I put a 'stop-payment' on EVERY ONE!! AND...I have NEVER received a phone call from the PDL companies. Have you spoken to your bank? Maybe you don't have to clase your account, but, it depends on what's 'good' for you.

sd, I'm glad for you. You are a lucky one. However, tree, on the other hand will probably encounter some problems just looking at who some of her pdl's are. (His/Her???) Sorry, tree, don't know if you're male or female! So, you'll just be "tree"! So actually, leaving the bank account open/active would NOT be a wise idea. Especially with the MTE d/b/a. No, no, no. They will hit your account 20 times in one day. Ugly, ugly. I see goudah suggested I might have a letter for you to send. Tree, do you know how to do "pm" messages?

Are CashNetUSA and Advance America (or whatever their name is) the only ones who are licensed/legal in PA? I know the others won't be licensed.

I haven't checked, but I assume so . . . . They are all names I recongize as unlicenesed. But I can't say 100% for sure that they aren't. I'd say I'm 98% sure the rest aren't licensed.

And as far as Advance America goes - With the recent win by the banking dept against them, I would recommend you contact them to see what you should do about you loan. I would think at the least you would get to stop paying the participation fee.

The last time I went into Advance America to pay, the little "receipt" that they give you that has what you paid and your next due date and payment amount on it set a new due date (next month) but listed the required payment amount as $0? I still have my copy of it, so does this mean I'm not obligated to pay them right now?

Well, when I went to the bank today and told them my situation, they closed my original account and opened a completely new one, not linked together whatsoever. They put a hard block on my old account, reversed my fees, and gave me notice in writing that they wouldn't charge any additional fees for attempts to withdraw more money by these people, and that there would be no way they could access my new account.

I'm certainly hoping that will solve the immediate problem of my funds perpetually being sucked dry........but I noticed something in all of your advice about MTEs? What're they?

tree, MTE Financial. This is Satan  . MTE uses MANY different d/b/a's. They are completely illegal. Not licensed in the United States anywhere. And they will debit you to absolute death. Forever and then longer. They will climb into your coffin and ask for more money. Oh. Sorry. Got carried away there! I'm pm'ing you "the letter". Let me know if you got it. And if you have ANY questions, pm me. I want to be sure you've got your bases covered. :D
P.S. - Great job with the bank!!!

I am SO thankful for all of your spectacular advice........wouldn't have been able to figure this one out on my own, I don't think!!! Tomorrow is "letter writing day," so I'll be having a grand time with the AG office and sending all of my cease and desist notices out. Best of all, I'll actually be able to use all of my own paycheck this week!!! WOO HOO!!!

Maybe there's a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel?

tree, remember, if you run into any problems or have any questions, just let us know. MTE d/b/a's will play head games with you. Just come here and post anything and we'll give you a heads-up on what's going on. :D

Advance America. I have a payday loan through them and the last few months (my husband and I both went there) we have only had to pay only $20 towards the initial $500 we both got.......my question is how do I find out if there has been/or will be refunds given?

I just want to make sure we are on the list if refunds are given
