ameriloan and ny

i took out a loan for 200 dollars from ameriloan and when i was supposed to pay them back my check was for only half the amount and after my bank realized that i didnt have sufficient funds to pay it back they returned the payment and ever since then they havent tried to take any money out. i would like to know have they given up on trying to get my money or what

#1. ameriloan is not licensed anywhere. They are illegal.
#2. Pay day lending is illegal in New York.

You need to do something about your bank account. Ameriloan is associated with MTE Financial. They will sneak back and attack. Please, please close your account and open a new account at a different bank. There is a "sticky" at the top of this site page regarding closing your bank account. Do not trust this pdl. Illegal pld lending in a state that prohibits pld's period. No, no, no.

I had sent an email to pay ameriloan in full, shortly before discovering this website and taking all the steps like closing my bank account and such. They were one of the ones that liked to come through one minute before my paycheck resulting me in NSF fees every paycheck and bringing my account balance down down down...

Even that first paycheck after I had it debit blocked, they tried to take out just the principal, and I got a fee, leaving me $25 less of the check my bank sent me when I closed it. And not even an hour after it got returned they hit my bank again and again, for the $75 roll over fee, and then 325 for loan amount plus fee. And I had already paid them 150 in fees, leaving me only with 100 left to pay. They were even the first to submit a paper check to my bank for 355 (not sure where that amount came from), and probably did it thinking I had just them blocked and they could sneak in the side door with the paper check.

They are sneaky, and they are not licensed. You took out 200 but how much have you paid them back? You only owe them 200 total.

Thanks, poko. Let me also add something regarding your post. ameriloan or any MTE d/b/a will not stop at just ACH debits. They will also try putting through electronic checks. Same thing, just harder to track/reverse off your bank account. Snakes.

Really, I knew that a few companies (and I'm sure the ones I've read about are all MTE dbas) will keep trying to take money out of an account in any way possible. I didn't realize that when they pull an e-check it is harder to reverse. Very good information to know.

Luckily my bank account is closed, I keep fearing though that I will someday log on to check up on it and find it in the red! They told me it won't but I still am afraid. And they will probably keep trying to pull from that account even after I get them paid in full with a money order right?

The one thing about ameriloan, they haven't contacted me or harassed me yet, I'm sure when they do they'll say I owe them thousands, and then one quick call to the dept of banking and that will send them packing!

poko, MTE is known for continuing to try to debit closed/blocked accounts. Some members have found them hitting their accounts like 20 times with very small amounts of money - so they get a million dollars worth of NSF fees becauase of all the debits they tried to put through. Yes, they will still try to take money out of a closed account. Just because you haven't heard from them, doesn't mean they've "forgotten" you, unfortunately. And, regarding the electronic checks. Yes, found this out the hard way also. An ACH debit is easier for the bank to trace and reverse. An electronic check is harder for them to trace and reverse. I had two electronic checks. Lord, it was like pulling teeth to get those off. Luckily I was able to, but it took time and effort. The bank was working with me. They explained it's a whole lot more difficult than an ACH debit. And, also, with an electronic check, you have to act quickly. You have a short time span to get your butt in the bank and have it reversed. My bank in particular has like a one/two day window. If you don't catch that electronic check ASAP, you are more than likely screwed because of the short time frame to work with it. It's crazy. But true. At least in my case.
