None! It is a scare tactic. Do you really owe them money according to the laws of your state? Not Costa Rica's.

Just my opinion, but it seems fine to me. Do you feel that these people even deserve your e mail. They are sooo illegal that they will probably come back at you in a nasty way.

That is really up to you. I believe it's best to pay back principle. It's the morally right thing to do, and there are lots of good reasons to do so.

But legally may be another matter . . . .

I agree with Goudah. Repaying the principal amount is kind of morally the right thing to do. But no more, since they are illegal. Why should they benefit from skanky practices? The email that you created sounds good. I'll be interested in their response. :-)

I am in agreement with everyone. You do have a moral obligation to return what was borrowed if they make it possible for you to do so without risk.

Did you get a response back from this company? I submitted an application with personal information including bank info and they never responded. I did this prior to researching their credibility. Does any of the paperwork include a telephone number? I am concerned they are going to steal my identity. PLease let me know if you have any info or a phone number.
