Thanks Goudah! I was in such a rush to post it, that I forgot to take that out :)
So, what do you guys think I should do? I had prepared this e-mail, tell me what you think:
To date, I have paid you a total of $228 on my loan of $400.
I have recently been informed that payday loans are illegal in New York, the state I reside in. In addition, You are NOT licensed to operate and lend in my state. You are not even located in the United States, which in essence, makes the whole transaction null and void. The New York State Attorney General and FTC is being made aware of this situation.
I am willing to settle this account for the amount of $172, which is what I still owe on this account. [I AM STILL UNDECIDED ON WHETHER OR NOT TO PAY THEM THIS AMOUNT].
Please let me know if this is acceptable.
I also respectfully ask that all contact be either via USPS or by email.
Thank you
New York girls rock. Just my opinion, but it seems fine to me.

Just my opinion, but it seems fine to me. Do you feel that these people even deserve your e mail. They are sooo illegal that they will probably come back at you in a nasty way.
I think that is a good response too. I would send it off!

Thanks, do you think I should include the part about still paying them the balance I owe, or just leave it out?

That is really up to you. I believe it's best to pay back principle. It's the morally right thing to do, and there are lots of good reasons to do so.
But legally may be another matter . . . .
Ok, I sent the email. Let's see what happens next! Oh what fun!

I agree with Goudah. Repaying the principal amount is kind of morally the right thing to do. But no more, since they are illegal. Why should they benefit from skanky practices? The email that you created sounds good. I'll be interested in their response. :-)

I am in agreement with everyone. You do have a moral obligation to return what was borrowed if they make it possible for you to do so without risk.
Any response?
Did you get a response back from this company? I submitted an application with personal information including bank info and they never responded. I did this prior to researching their credibility. Does any of the paperwork include a telephone number? I am concerned they are going to steal my identity. PLease let me know if you have any info or a phone number.
Thanks.
