HELP !!!!! With MTE Financial

I have just discovered that a $300.00 payday loan has now cost us $735.00. Is there no end in sight? I really don't want to close my bank account, but I am not sure I have a choice. Because of them, my account keeps going into the red. Help !!!!!!!!

I live in Indiana and am not sure if our state authorizes internet payday loans, anyone know?

Idy...I can post the Indiana law for you ...You will probably have to close your account to stop the debits...please read the bank info posted at the top of this forum about that...it is very important as every bank seems to have a different way of handling it..as an internet loan you have already paid it off...file a complaint with the state attorney...his office can help mediate closure for you. MTE has several differnt names on their loans...I don't think any of them are licensed. You can also send MTE a letter revoking thier right to debit, wage assignment, etc. You can read more about them by searching MTE in the google box..

You will find the Payday loan laws for Indiana here (just select your state),

I think that morningstar is right you need to close that account. Open up a new one at a totally different bank and don't apply for anymore PDL's.
That way you can gain control over the situation and will be able to work on paying them back what you legally owe them, principle.

Just an update with this account. I just went to my bank, they are going to credit back the amount overpaid, stop all ACH debits from MTE, plus because of this forum, any future ACH debits that are from another entity, they will stop payment on those as well, telling me to check my online bank account each day until this matter is finally resolved. I am lucky to have a bank that actually works with their customers. They said as a last recourse, they would close my account and open a new one, plus if that needs to happen, to advise them on any outstanding checks or debits and they will be transfered to the new account----but only those that I personally specify. This bank has always treated me right in the past and do not expect that to change.

Hooray for you! :D You've got it going on! Your bank is a "good" bank, not an "evil" bank like some! I'm sure you're feeling better about things now! This is awesome news! And encouraging. I hate to hear bank horror stories. They amaze me. I'm so glad your bank is SMART!
