No problem, laura. I can't promise we won't hear from them again soon; however, it shut them up for now anyway. They're probably turning me over to a nice collection agency as we speak. However, they can then tell me THEIR license number they are operating legally under.

You know they can't and won't do that because they have none. It burns me up how righteous they pretend to be in one e-mail I received they informed me it was my "moral obligation" to pay this debt. Morals...since when did a internet payday loan site that robs people blind, lies to them and tries to steal their money have morals??? That really made me laugh!

I was on the http://www.indiana.gov/ site today and was reading the new laws governing internet payday loans. I must say I am excited (and it takes alot to get me excited these days) I believe this new law that went into effect on July 1st is just the thing I need to keep me from even thinking about a IPDL in the future. I am hoping it will deter alot of people. I also e-mailed my debt relief counselor and sent him copy of this new law so he will have additional information when settling with the IPDL's on my outstanding balances..I gave him a set amount for each PDL and said do not offer them more..I hope he will use it...I wait for his response.

Funny thing happened today I received an e-mail from UpFront Payday loan. It stated since I was such a good customer and paid off my last loan I could get a discounted interest rate on my next loan. I haven't paid them yet...I have heard nothing from them...since August 21st and this is the second time I have received this e-mail notice. I was under the assumption I owed them 200 dollars??? They are not licensed in the state of Indiana and you would think they would shy away from offering me a loan..do you think their promo dept is operating separately from the company???
reply
laura, sometimes the pdl's do not communicate very well with each department! LOL! It could mean a few things. It might mean that they're just stupid and sent you the email (I'm sure it's all computerized). It could mean that they are trying to be "slick" and get you sucked into applying for another loan and getting your new bank account information. It could mean that they marked your last loan pif and never notified you. Is there a way you can log on to the website and check your "status"? Is that possible?

Hey..I did that it said loan status inactive balance 0
so do you think they have wrote it off?? Or maybe sent it to their collection agency..
reply
Okay, laura. I'm not promising you anything, but they may have zero'd your loan out and not notified you. Some pld's will do that to cover their ass before the complaints you filed come rolling in to their office. This way, they can say "We have already resolved this matter." They look like little angels that way. And this would not be the first time a pdl zero'd out a balance and didn't notify the person. On the flip side, it could mean that your loan went to collections. However, usually if you log on and it's been sent to collections they have some dumb statement like "your account is past due, blah, blah, blah". I wouldn't question it. Let it go. It says inactive and zero. Do not kick the sleeping dog. Until you get something else from them, consider this one gone.

I agree...you are right! I am not touching this one with a ten-foot pole! If I hear something I will take action until then it's dead in the water!! But they are on my list to the debt relief counselor and they will be contacting them soon. Do you think I should call them and take this IPDL off the list???
reply
Damn good question. Call the company you are working with and tell them what's happened. Tell them that your account is showing a zero balance and it might be due to them closing the account. See what they say. I would hate for them to contact the pdl and offer a settlement if the loan has been closed. Crap. Ask them. Tell them you believe it's closed. Like I said, we can't count our chickens before they're hatched. It could be in collections somewhere. Are you up for a phone call or email to the pdl? And just ask "what is the status of my loan?" If you're up for it, contact them and just ask that one question. What is the status of my loan.

I was thinking of that..but I feel like it's opening a can of worms. It may start a chain reaction. But if the account is really closed they should be able to tell me and I am sure they will tell me if I still owe them money. So I may do that in the morning..I am going on vacation tomorrow and I would like to know this before I go..and I need to let the debt relief company know before my payments start.
reply
All you need to do is ask the status of your loan. With luck, they'll tell you it's closed and the balance is zero. If they do tell you this, tell them to send you something in writing stating this (even an email - just so you have something). If they start going off on you regarding it being in collections, past due, blah, blah, hang up the phone and forget about it. Let your company handle it for you. But you need to know. Please let me know what you find out.

OK..I'll do that first thing tomorrow..then I am not thinking of bills for at least 10 days. My daughter has a condo in Florida and has sent me a plane ticket to come visit and that's what I am going to do..catch ya later...
My storefront loan...
I just have a question maybe some of you know what to do...I just had to have my car repaired (fuel pump) it was expensive. I just got back from vacation..anyway no money so they let me go till payday..I had one payday loan I was going to pay-off..Checkn'go.(storefront)..200 dollars. I was going to call them (it's due Friday) and ask if they would take 100 this payday (Oct 11th) and the rest on my next payday (Oct.15th) What do you think?? Will they be willing to go along with me??? This is my last payday loan and I will be clear.. everything else is taken care of..I really think I am offering them a good way to settle this...do you think they will give me a hard time? I really don't want any problems..they do have my check and I don't want them sending it through.
Actually for those of you reading my previous post my second pay
Actually for those of you reading my previous post my second payday was October 25th not the 15th...sorry..

laura, call the manager at the storefront, okay? Tell them what happened (about the car repair/don't say you were on vacation). Tell them you will give them 1/2 now (Friday) and give them a date you will give them the other half. Storefronts will work with you. Expecially if you contact them BEFORE your due date (which you will). They usually want 1/2 (which you plan on doing) and then give an exact date to pay the other half. You have very good intentions here. I do believe they will work with you. Just make sure you call before Friday (when it's due) and tell the MANAGER. I feel confident that your payment plan is very reasonable and they'll work with you. Now, don't hold me to my word! It depends on the manager. But they will almost always work with you if you want to pay the way you are. They usually get a little "worked up" when you only want to pay like $25 a week or something. Call first thing in the morning and state your financial troubles and give them your proposed payment plan. Please post and let us know how it goes.

Cannr...went to Check'nGo yesterday. The girl was very nice..she said they could not hold my check longer than the due date because it was against company policy. She could get fired and the store manager could also if the district manager came in.
However (to my surprise) she set me up with 5 payments of 40 dollars each. No added interest..just pay the 40 every payday for the next 5 paydays and be done. That was better than my plan which shocked me I would have thought paying off in two paydays would be beneficial to them. I can double up and pay off sooner also or not just pay the 40. Amazing....however she also stated that this plan was only good once a year. I told her that was fine...I was planning on not borrowing from any PDL's for the next 50 years!

laura, that is SO awesome! Hell, your "plan" was wonderful, yet they came up with an even better one! It's always right to contact the storefront. Some are real jerks, but then others really do accomodate a person. Like in your case. I think this is an excellent repayment plan & your storefront obviously has good customer service! I'm soooo happy for you. Soon it'll be paid off & you can thank them & tell them "goodbye"! Good job! :D

That is great. Take it and run with it and never look back. I protected myself from all payday loans untill the end of time. I do not have a checking account and I am doing 100 times better than when I did.

luke, you don't have a checking account at all? Do you have a savings account instead? Or something that you're able to use a debit card with? I'm just curious. I'm thinking of not having a checking account either. It helps resist the "temptation" if you don't have checks. And you can't get into any trouble. But my concern is about having to use cash for everything. Now, call me stupid, but can you have a savings account that has a debit card attached to it? Or is a debit card just for checking accounts?

Okay, I seem to remember you posting something some time back (cannr's a little slow here!) about this. So you can use your card like a debit card at a store and everything? And pay your bills on line with the card just like a debit card? You just don't have checks?

Checkngo was my last pdl to confront and it worked out well. I thank all of you that have helped me and I will be checking back in periodically to see if I can assist someone else. This is an excellent site for people with pdl problems.

online pdls in KY
I have never posted to any forums before, so forgive me if I did this wrong. I have 8 pdls out right now and am in way over my head. I have changed banks, but can not close my other account yet. My original bank has stopped allowing the ipdls from debiting my account, however, they are now calling me at work and threatening to attach my wages. I have a copy of the letter that was posted on here, but still little confused.
MTE borrowed 300, pd 180, Ambassador borrowed 400, pd 650, 866-702-7484 (no name attached) borrowed 300, pd 180, United Cash borrowed 300, pd 270, ameriloan borrowd 300, pd 360, Emerald Marketing borrowed 300, pd 270, and FTR borrowed 300, pd 180. Thank you for your help, I was afraid I would never get out of this mess...

Hey, bball! It's okay! You're dealing with some unlicensed/illegal pdls here, okay? First thing is you need to tell me what state you reside in so that we can look up your state pdl law. Okay? If you can tell me that, we can go from there. The next thing will be to address the bank account situation. However, we can't go into that until we know what state you reside in and check out the laws. So, could you please post what state you reside in? Then we can help you out! :D

Oh, bball. My Kentucky friend. You are in wonderful hands. Myself and another member are in Kentucky. I'm going to post Kentucky state pdl law for you to see. However, let me just point out right off the bat here that internet lending is illegal in Kentucky. Rest assured. It's a fight, but you are okay. Let me post the law for you - even though internet lending is illegal here. Okay?

Okay, bball. Let the games begin. Tell me about your bank account situation. I see something about you not being able to close it. Can you please give me some more information regarding what's going on with that? That is our priority right now. Getting your bank account straight so that the pdls can no longer hit it and get any more money from you.
Yes bball, please help with more info about your account. :)

I have tried to close the account, but because of the overdrafts, they will not let me. However, I have made arrangements with them to pay some each pay period till the balance is 0. They are not allowing any more debits from anywhere go through. So I guess that it is considered inactive. All debits are blocked by them.
I do have a new bank account and my name is no where on it. Just my check is deposited into it.

Good job. You've got the bank taken care of. Just as long as your old account is working with you and won't charge any fees and won't let any debits go through, you should be fine. But, my paranoia kicks in and I always suggest getting something in writing from them stating that no debits will go through. This is only because it's happened many, many times. Now, your money is safe from the pdls. Your good there. You will now have a paycheck again. Let me go through and read who your pdls are and what you've paid. We can do this. Don't worry any more. Hang on and I'll read and be right back.

bball, here's what I've got for you:
MTE Financial borrowed 300/paid 180/120 owed
Ambassador borrowed 400/paid 650/250 overpaid
United Cash borrowed 300/paid 270/30 owed
ameriloan borrowed 300/paid 360/60 overpaid
Emerald borrowed 30/paid 270/30 owed
FTR borrowed 300/paid 180/120 owed
MYSTERY LOAN borrowed 300/paid 180/120 owed
Here's the lowdown. MTE Financial, United Cash Loans, and Ameriloan are all one in the same. They are all MTE Financial. They are unlicensed/illegal. They are evil  to deal with, but we can do this. I need to know who the heck "FTR" is. Is that the actual name of the pdl? And, also, the "mystery loan" that you only have a phone number for. It's debiting along the same lines as MTE does. However, you have nothing on them? A name? Can you remember anything about them? Was it an on line pdl? Or a verbal agreement?

bball, the "mystery loan" is Cash Borrower. And they are a bitch to deal with. However, do not worry. You've got some ugly ones to deal with that will fight tooth and nail. But one of the things about living in Kentucky is you've got the state on your side. Actually, we can get contact information on them all, with the exception of FTR. Because I don't have a clue who that is. We're going to be sending these idiots letters and we're going to be filing complaints against them. Okay? Be glad you came here, my friend. Because you're going to get the help you need if we have to bend over backwards! :D
