I am getting pdl calls at work again

Crap! All of a sudden I'm getting pdl calls at work again! Just started this week. I haven't gotten any in forever and now they're calling. I'm fending them off left and right! Do you guys think it might be because the state AG has contacted them all now? I'm starting to freak here! This one I just got sounded like a british person. If it's my friends from the overseas again, I think I'll just go off! What are your opinions? I got rid of them, then nothing for over a month, and now they're calling work again. What's up with this? Do you think it migh be because of the contact from my state AG? Lord. Here we go. Fending off calls from my work place.

jen, I'm not sure. Because I pull the "she no longer works here" deal. I know this one today was an overseas one. And here's the deal they tried to pull. They asked for me (I can distinguish a pdl) and I said "There's no one here by that name." They then proceeded to say they were "responding to a fax received by (my name)". I haven't faxed a thing all day. So I said "You must be mistaken." So they said "We have an extension number xxxxx." I said "No. No one is at that extension." So they said "Well, okay then, goodbye." What??? Why are they calling AGAIN after all this time? I'm thinking because they're getting the complaints. Oh, wonderful.

I'm thinking that once they receive the complaints, they'll try to contact me DIRECTLY again and go "around" the AG. You know how they are. Which is all making me nervous again because I have to be "on guard" at work all over again. Just as I was beginning to feel "safe" from getting calls at work.

frog, you might be right. Only because of the accent the lady had on the phone. Plus the "tactic" of saying they were "responding to a fax". suzi, thank you for your kind words. I tend to FREAK OUT occasionally! That's why I come straight to the forum and post. I need to get my support team's input to keep my head on straight! Hopefully I got rid of this one from calling my work. Good Lord!

Sounds like Rt. 66 in action again...or one of the various DBA's they use. Lord knows they have a ton of names to use.

Just keep hanging up on them, cannr...eventually they will go away. The way I got rid of Rt. 66 was to actually go to a private office and get really nasty with them on the phone - I told them point blank they were breaking the law, that I had reported them to the various authorities (AG, BBB, etc.), and that I would pay what I LEGALLY owed according to my state laws, but not a penny more. They wanted me to pay THEIR "ACH FEES" for all the times they tried to debit my account after it was closed. DUH - how many times do you try to debit after you receive the "account closed" message?!?

They'll try anything, these people.

Cannr
Sorry to hear they are bothering you at work. Just keep saying that you are not you !!!!
I got a call at 7 this morning. They asked for me and i just slammed the phone down. I know it was a collector, because there was lots of noise in the backround, and I did not recognize the voice, My friends dont call at 7. On the whole however I have been pretty lucky. I have not been plagued yet with calls at home, and most of these places can not reach me at work,m because I have switched jobs and they do not have the new number. Keep your chin up Cannr. Dont let them drive you nuts

Thank you for all the wonderful support! I guess since I got my phone number changed, they're going to call work all over again! Lord! But, I did recieve another letter from my AG today. This one was another one regarding my complaint against Quickest-Cash-Advance (MTE  ). And, reading through it, it said blah, blah, they'll contact the company, blah, blah. HOWEVER, it then went on to say in another paragraph that they've asked the company to contact ME and see if we can get it resolved. Of course, they're going to monitor any correspondence between me and the pdl; however, if this is the case, this may be why the pdl calls are coming again. If the AG sends a letter stating a complaint and then tells the pdl to contact me, well........ they're going to try to contact me! LOL! I just figure they've got my email. They can contact me that way. Lord, it's just getting through the calls at work AGAIN. Guess I'll keep saying I don't work there any more! I'll have to JUMP on the phone every time it rings!

Cannr - When I was dealing with Route 66 I did the she doesn't work here anymore thing too. They still would call every once in a while just to "check". In fact, I didn't hear from them for over 6 months, then one day out of the blue they call my cell phone with a settlement offer! Of course, their settlement was only paying $400 on the something like $1800 I now "owed" them. Yeah, right! But these overseas companies have a habit of popping up again when you least expect them to.

Thanks, goudah. Maybe that's what they're doing. Making sure I still don't work here. LOL! They'll probably wait another month and call again. I'm glad you told me that though. I was getting concered about ALL the pdl's calling me! Thank you!

Way to go Cannr.
Keep pretending that you are not you. Thats what I do. I am not me more than I am me LOL.Some days I actually dont know who i am, and those are the days I function best. Seriously though, I have not yet been bombarded yet. As I mentioned earlier most of these people hAve an old work number, so I am not being hassled at work. I have no idea why they are not calling every second at home, but I am not going to push my luck. As far as calling my references, i did not put down correct phone numbers, so i am safe on that front,
Chin up Cannr, they are only phone calls!!!!!

Me Too.
I suppose its the thought of actually talking to a real person that makes it hard. E mails and letters are easier, because there is no direct contact.
Funny though, I get intimadated by these illegal people, when the reality of the situation is that they should be intimidated by me

I keep getting those "your payment was returned, perhaps it was a mistake" emails twice a month from Route66 so I am sure they are going to start calling me again too. One day I kept talking like a computer voice and said please enter your pass code. They would go beep beep beep. I would repeat please enter your pass code. Beep beep beep. Goodbye. Then I would hang up. The tried calling three more times. Finally they called the receptionist and they came in on a diffent line and I had to answer "Good Moring." The man kep telling me that hanging up won't help. Click. He called back and I told him that ahe was wasting his time and should find a real job before he loses this one. He got his supervisor and I hung up on him too. That was around a month or two ago. They should be back soon for another round. Because they are overseas they don't care who you complain to. But they also can't collect from you.

Don't these people ever give up? You would think that they were trying to collect a million dollars or something, when in fact they are trying to collect $400 or $500 on a loan that they've probably received double that in interest charges!

You keep up the good work Cannr. :-) Don't let them get you upset. Remember, you have the upper hand now!

Oh, yeah. frog, I just got an email from one of my overseas pdl's about a week ago that "my payment wasn't received". Ummmm.....the account was closed two months ago. See? These pdl's do NOT give up. They will try to debit your account no matter what. So it was about two months with nothing and now they apparently tried to debit again (I'm sure for 1,000.00 or something!). I guess they just keep on trying. Insane.

I did see it and boy, did it ever give me some ideas! You people shouldn't introduce me to these kinds of things! LOL! I'd LOVE to do that! Unfortunately, they're calling work though! Guess I could say "I'm sorry, she's dead and no longer here." LOL!

My dear sweet friend, ladybug. I love you. :D Yes, I've sent them every letter under the sun. Emailed them every time they've called. On and on and over and over. They are really making me think they're insane! LOL!

These people do tend to not pay any attention to the letters, but at least you know you have sent them and it looks better for you if something ever happened and needed proof of what you have told them. By ignoring the letters they are continuing to break the law. You know the old saying, what goes around comes around, well one of these days they will get theirs. The more people become educated the more educated they become the less likely they will use pdls and the less they use pdls, the less business these places will have and the less business mean less profits and the loss of profits means the demise of the business. We just have to continue to put the word out there about these companies. It might take a while, but sooner or later they will fall. (might be when I am dead, but they will fall! LOL)

Oh my, 2ndband. I do not believe anyone can say I don't have documentation to back anything up! LOL! That's what makes me feel better. If I have to "prove" anything, believe me, I've got it! LOL!
