Hi Robin. Trust me, I know how you are feeling. It gets better, and yes, there is a way out. It starts with you taking back control of your money. Believe me, it's a great feeling! I have been caught in the cycle for years. I have almost everything resolved now, thank goodness. If I would have known what I know today a couple of years ago I could have saved myself TONS of money. But we live an learn, right?

As Bossy said, let us know which state you are in and who you have loans with and the amounts...also whether they are storefront or internet and how much you have paid so far. It really helps to know your state laws and who to turn to for assistance. :-)

I am another fool that got caught up in the Payday loans. In a blink of an eye (well over a year) i have accumulated 11 payday loans, which have drained me completely dry. On 3/20 I had my bank do 8 stop payments on payday loans to avid paying out more NSF charges. I do not get charged for Stop Payments because it is a Senior Cititzen acct. Well as expected I'm being harrassed by the payday lenders. I live in Pennsylvania and my total amout that I owe is around $3500.
Can you help me. One company agreed to a payment arrangement but one company wants $756 dollar by 4/3, which will only leave me $500 for car payment and utilities. I'm FLAT Broke. Please give me some insite on what to do. I don't want any of these payday loan companies to contact my employer or my WIFE.
Any help is appreciated

If you have secured your account, let them keep asking!!! They are out of the country and have no way to collect other than hollow threats!!

Do as nohiogal suggested and post your other loans and amounts. This will aloow us to review and guide you further.

The reason for my question about work or SS was due to the ability to enforce either wage assignments or in the case of a judgement, a garnishment. All govt benefits are exempt from judgements, but your paycheck is not.

Jerry this company does have you sign a wage assignment when you loan with them. The first thing you need to do is close your bank account, if you cannot just go to the bank and do this tell them you lost you check book and ATM Card and you need to close your account asap and open a new one. I am not suggesting you lie to your wife but you need to protect your interests. This company is illegal but that will not stop them from calling and harassing you but the good news is you will have money in your pocket. I am sure you have paid them more than the original principal amount borrowed.

Once your bank account is secure, you need to send them and your employer a wage assignment revocation letter. It can be a simple statement like I am revoking any and all wage assignments. Make certain your employer gets this.

When Northway calls you do not let them intimidate you in any way. Make them aware that you are aware of your rights and the law. Tell them they are illegal and ask them to provide you with their license number, they will not be able to comply. If they continue to call hang up.

Unfortunately they may contact your references, this might be the best time to explain all of this to your wife, you might actually feel better once you do. We are here to support you through this mess.

Please provide us with the names of all your lenders, amount borrowed and total amount paid so far.

My wife has Direct Deposits for her SS Disability and Unemployment checks. The SS Disability takes a good month to switch. What do you suggest?

Yes, go to your bank and speak with the manager. Freeze the account for deposits only. This means when your funds arrive from SS you will have to physically go to the bank and show ID to withdrawal. As soon as you withdrawl close your account and open a new one, then contact SS with the information of your new account.

Take a few bucks now, open a new account, give SS your information for the next months check. Government usually can change things quickly.

Also, with the freeze on your account, you may have to wait a few extra days to get access to that money as each thing before it hits a frozen account is reviewed by hand before allowing it to go through. I was with Compass Bank, it took an extra 2-3 business days for the $ to be there (husband's direct deposit was too late to cancel or change). It sucked having to wait those extra 3 days to get the $, but it was worth it to keep these scums from debiting the account anymore.

Just wanted you to be aware that there is a delay before you can withdraw those funds on a frozen account, but check with your bank on their policy.

I received a loan from Cash Banc, I paid all of it including their rediculous fees with the exception of $195.00, the balance has grown to over $700.00 and according to cash banc the debt has been sent to a collection agency. I had an individual named Mr. Brown call my work, my reference and is threatening to garnish my wages. What do I do?

Well I took your advice and told Northway Financial that I could not pay them back as agreed unless they set up a different type of payment plan, which they refused. I asked them for their license number which they would not give to me. They said they were going to contact my supervisor to set up a wage attachment. I did give my employer a letter revoking any and all wage assignments. they GOT real nasty with me. The only arrangement they were willing to make was for me to pay off this loan and then RELOAN me money to pay my bills.

The last pay day loans I had told me on my next pay day they would pay the loan but instead kept taking the fee out every month and the loan was getting the 90 dollar fee each month for 6 months on a $300.00 loan. There needs to be something done with this :? Called them and they still wouldn't just pay off the loan so I had to have my checking account shut down.
