Warm cookies from your grandma!
Now that I have your attention I need your advice...This morning while sitting here at work I went online to check my bank account info. To my SHOCK I was overdrawn. There was 2 seperate charges of $ 150.00 taken out of my account. The name was Ambassador Collection. After calling my bank they gave me a number 1-866-808-0936. After being on hold for ever a Dave Schofield got on and told me this was for a payday loan from Nationwide Cash. I explained to him that the PDL was from last year and it was through T&C for debt collection. He rudely told me that they dont deal with T&C and that T&C made a 30.00 payment to them and that wasnt exceptable. He then prceeded to tell me that I had no intention of paying the loan back. The kicker is when I got the loan from Nationwide Cash it was from a different account altogether. The account I have now is not even with the same bank I had the funds put in from them. Ambassador found my current account info and took out 300.00 without my authorization. I have been crying all day so far.
Over my lunch break I went to my bank which they were very helpful to me. I explained what had taken place and they encouraged me to fill out a fraud report disputing the charges. I asked the bank what happens if they say well you owe the money. She said 9 times out of 10 the person filing the complaint wins do to it wasnt authorized for them to pull the funds.
My concern is that Ambassador actually "Dave" will say that is tuff. Dave told me this morning they had all the details they needed from me anyway. Basically it has me all worried. The bank told me that they can not try to take the funds out again. My question is what happens now? What do I do now once Ambassador finds out that they didnt get paid. I'm not getting out of paying it I just dont like they way they did this without my authorization.
Please give imput! Thanks and sorry so long!

For the most part you are safe. But there are some expections, like Tweety. Sometimes you will never know how they got the info. But there is no reason to worry. Odds are greatly on your side that your new account is safe.

I would think that the bank will reverse any fees caused by this. Also, if you explain to the people you gave the checks to that fraudulant activity occured on your bank account they should be understanding . . . . . I'd hope.

Okay, this whole thread has me completely paranoid now. One good thing, I guess, my bank doesn't use chex sysmtems or whatever it is so that shouldn't show up on there. And, according to my AG's office, since pdls are illegal, the contract is null and void, it pretty much doesn't exist, so they can't stand behind that, hmmm....Sorry, just trying to calm my nerves...if only I had some cookies :-)

I have a question for the group. I am thinking about joining the credit union at work. Do credit unions report to Chexsystems? Just wondering.....

wow...a very scary thread...just when you thought things were safe...I just started direct deposit again after 2 months because I thought things were clear...although due to some of my conversations with Goudah I generally pull most of my money out after the deposit..just in case...:(
I did some searching and found my contract from Nationwide cash.
I did some searching and found my contract from Nationwide cash.....I took notes and I had paid 240.00 back. The jerk on the phone tuesday pulled 300.00 for the loan.......I feel better about that but I am not going to give up. I'm going to file complaints this morning.
Morningstarr430-Didnt mean to scare you- glad to know I have a fellow hoosier on here :D I hope there's more?
Didnt mean to scare every body else as well..... :D

Morningstar - I use direct deposit too. I just have it split.
Morningstar - I use direct deposit too. I just have it split. The best advice I could give if you are worried is to not keep all your money in the same place. That way if something happens you have a back up.
Kscornell - It depends on the CU. Some use chexsystems and some don't
But really, don't worry about this. It really doesn't happen very often.

Has anyone ever filed complaints on Ambassador Collections? I know they are the same as nationwide cash? Just wondering do I file under the name nationwide cash or ambassador? Thanks

Hey, you guys! I have a thought for Tweety. When that $30 was sent to them by your debt consolidation company, did they send it by check or have ANY reference on their payment of your current bank or account info? I can tell you from the banks perspective, if you didn't authorize the transaction, you WILL get your money back. Since you bank with a credit union, I'm not sure what regulations they follow, but it should be pretty close to the bank regulations. Let us know when you get it back...so we can make cookies. Now I need a snack. "Mmmmmm...doughnuts....."

Tweety...I did file on Nationwide to the AG...I just recently got a call from them saying they will be responding to the AG that they are "forgiving" my debt and that I will get notice from the AG to that affect...I am still waiting but it's been less than a week...
And yes...I have run into a few others on here from Indiana too...
morning
morningstarr, it really sounds as though you're getting good responses once these pdl's received your AG complaints. And you were so discouraged! I'm glad to read on how well they've responded to the AG. I'm hoping I get good responses to my AG complaints. But, like I said, my AG gives them 30 days to respond. So I'm waiting patiently. Hell, if they just "disappear" after hearing from my AG, I'd be happy! LOL!

I have a question - I'm reading posts on MTE...have they actually debited OTHER accounts that people here have to pay loans stopped by closing ANOTHER account??

I need some warm cookies right about now. I hope that you get your money back. I went through the same thing a while back when a payday lender took money out of an account that I did not authorize them to debit.

They didn't debit mine. They did try to settle with me and I had overpaid them by $245. The BBB response from them said that they had tried to settle with me and I refused and they went on to say they had "written off" my balance and discontinued "collection efforts". I responded back to the BBB that I wanted a PIF and $245 back :)
