worldwide asset purchasing ii llc - do you know anything about the letter?

okay i received this summons for a civil from the court was laeft in my door by a state marshall. i was planning on paying this anyways but the rates got way out of hand. anyways while looking through these documents theres no docket number on this paper work. i looked up online to see if the court had it no where in the system. then three days after i got this summons which says i owe 1,348.84 and was issued a credit card which i wasn't i was issued 300.00 dollars of a payday loan. anyways i recieve this letter from there attorney or collection agency which is Shechtman halperin savage llp, out of rhode island that says that i owe 18432.50 or something liek that and there going to give me 80% off my debt if i pay it by the end of august and it will only cost me 1,348.84 which is the amount that is in the summons.
Can i really trust these people to settle this. plus whats up with this wording of credit card when it was never a credit card to begin with. any advice is welcomed. ps i though if somone is going to sue you that they had to hire a attorney in your state. which i live in Conneticut. thanks all

If you are not comfortable with settling, then you can consult with a lawyer over the phone who deals with this field of law. You may get a free consultation. I personally would contact the courts in regards to the summons, and allow your state laws to supercede the amount that they say you owe. But, make sure you show up to court, and there are times that the plaintiff doesn't show up.

Shechtman, Halperin, Savage, LLP in Rhode Island typically will offer you 40% of an a very over stated amount, follow with 20% of a lessor amount and then take you to court for the actual amount.
