How to stop my account from being debited

I was hoping you guys could help....

I was readin about MTE Financial on one of the other threads. I too have issues with them, they are severly overcharging me for my loan. I have tried the phone #'s in the other thread but none of them are MTE or Rio  There ia another company Im involved with name B-I-G inc pdl out of England. They have overcharged me more then MTE has. now to the important question....

Untill I get the 2 situations resolved I was wondering what is the best way to prevent them from taking my money everytime I get paid. I spoke with my bank and they said stop "payments" will do the Job but they are 30$ a piece alot less then the 90$ and 80$ being taken out, but I would like to avoid the 30$ fees entirely...... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Thanks guys, I was hoping not to have to do that. I bank with US bank, and have done so for 3 years becase I was put on Chexsystems for being irresponsible when I was younger. The loans I took were to be able to fly to see a loved one before she died. I feel like Im being taken adavntage of. Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in....

so the issue is if i close my account with US bank, I may not be able to get a checking account anywhere else.

does anyone now of any other national bank chains that accept chexsystems customers.... (Im on Ohio by the way)

thanks in adavnce

sdotclark - I just sent you a list of some banks that will still allow you to open an account even with the chexsystems report. And since your report is 3+ years old, you may even want to try a normal bank. A lot of them will put filters on their chex software to only show reports within the last 3 or so years, so there is a chance they won't even see your chex report.

Goudah has a great list compiled of banks that you might be able to get an account at with a mark on chex. If you want to try, you could try to "keep" your account at your current bank, but have them put it on a total debit block/deposit only status. It's a pain since you can't use your ATM card and if you want money, you have to physically go into the bank and get it. But your account will still be active and open, but the pdl debits will not go through. Nothing willl. Paper checks, electronic checks, etc. Deposits will still go in though. It'll have a total debit block on it. That's just an option to keep in your mind. That way you would still have a bank account (just in case you have any trouble getting a new bank account somewhere else). Also, some other forum members have used some kind of on-line banking that they say is great. You could check on that too. Just some options for you to consider. And MTE and BIG are soooooooo evil. Nasty, illegal, devils.

sass may have meant contacted via email. That's the 'norm' for MTE. Email you threatening unlawful stuff. Fun, fun, fun. It's BIG that calls the heck out of you! LOL! Which is worse? The emails that send you through the roof or the phone calls that drive you batty? Either way, they're awful.

I put a stop on the ach authorization. I was charged for each one and they charged by payroll number or something. Some had two different numbers under the same name. The tellers told me if I closed the account they would send them through any way and it would reopen causing it to continue to go deeper into the negative. I don't think you can keep from paying the fee but, I had 7 of them and you've got one. I would try this first. I am going to monitor the crap out of my account and if they try it through another name I will catch it or someone will. I also, sent an e-mail to gfs saying that I wanted my account balance and that I would no longer allow ach but, would pay through money order and to give me their address. They called me up and said they accept nothing but ach payments and they were still going to send in the exstension unless I called and tell them otherwise to pay in full.

chris, did you not request that your bank put a hard debit block on your account? Instead of stopping each transaction, which is a lot of work (monitoring the account) and also costing you, putting a hard block on the account will still leave the account open, but no debits will go through. Have you asked them about doing this? The pdl's will continue to debit your account if they have access to it. I understand about your account would be forced open if pdl debits are pending; however, you need to have them put a hard debit block/hold/freeze on the account and nothing will go through. Take like $25 or $50 to another bank and open a different account so you'll have a "working" checking account again, if you haven't done this already. But,chris, get your bank to take care of that account! They can put a freeze on it. It won't be closed, no debits will go through, and you don't have to be paranoid about the debits hitting it any longer. Please go to your bank and request that they do this, stressing to them that these are unauthorized debits from illegal companies and this must be done. Please do that and keep us posted!

Chris - Did you read the thread regarding important info to know before you close your bank account? It discusses more the blocks and holds that bank can do to stop these places from debiting at all.

An ACH block won't work for long, as these places will produce a paper check for your account and send it through.
