just talked to the bank

I called my new bank & asked them if westbury could debit any money from my new account. They told me unless it is through the government or a warrant that no money can be taken out of my account through check recovery so i guess i'll have to wait & see what happens.

Some banks allow a debit from the pdl company if the ACH is done within 30 days. Be sure from your bank if they have any condition like this. I have heard from many people about their new account being debited because the pdl place tried to withdraw funds within 30 days and the bank allowed the transaction.

tl, I'm glad you called your bank. I'm sure they made you feel better. I hate being paranoid! But it does sound as though your new account, at a new bank, will be safe.

ricjil, this happens to accounts that are closed. This has happened to some people who closed their accounts, then according the what the bank policy is, if a debit comes through, it may/may not re-open the account. This is not the case for tl's new account.

I was having problems with these pdls and my bank was great. One of the tellers called me and told me to just close my checking account. I still was able to maintain my savings account with the same number because the deal with the pdl was that they were allowed to debit my checking account only. I simply had my employer to start sending my wages to my savings account. Don't know if other banks will do this.
