Very concerned about this whole check issue...

I would not be too worried. It is not normal for a retail establishment to use Chexsystems. It's made for banks and other financial institutions. There are many other "products" geared specifically towards retail establishments.

I have been pdl free for about a year, and I have never had any problems writing checks. I think this must be a misunderstanding, or something. Chex only takes reports from banks, so unless something has changed recently the only thing a pdl could do was look at the report, they couldn't add any items.

This is wierd. I'm looking into it . . . .

Goudah, I thought that was strange also--since the only places that most retail stores use are places like Synergy and outfits like that. And Teletrack is used by PDL's and rent-to-own places, so this is a new one on me....

SCAN and telecheck are also really popular reports to check for retail outfits.

Goudah, I hope we can figure this out. I don't see how any ILLEGAL payday company could report us to anything! I guess the storefront ones could...but it still seems very strange to me.

They still couldn't report to Chexsystems, that the confusing part. Chexsystems compiles data relating to deposit accounts at finanical institutions. A payday loan is not a deposit account. So i don't see how chexsystems would even accept a report from them . . . .

Another thing, most reporting agencys and such aren't looking at the legalitly of the company. That is not an issue to them. The only thing that would matter to them was if the report was accurate.

I don't think that the pdl places are reporting to Chexsystems or telecheck. They would have to be licensed to do so and like goudah said, Chexsystems is used mainly by banks and does not have anything to do with check writing ability. I was in Chexsystems forever and never had a problem writing checks.

The IPDLS, at least some of them, have warnings on there sites that they do report to telechex.

So what would that mean? If there was an unpaid one, we could risk not being able to write checks or even worse, have our account closed??

Sorry, this is freaking me out.

I only have two at this point and they are both with MTE. United and Oneclick. And they are both being handled by the NY AG, although at this point, I don't know how helpful that is going to be, given Mperez's experience.

Telechex or Teletrack? Most pdl's report to Teletrack.

I would not worry about this, the chances of any of this affecting your check writing or banking ability is very low.

goudah, if you find more information regarding this, could you please post it for us? As you can see, we're all in a turmoil here! I'm freaking out and so are many others. I know it's all confusing, but frog even says it's on some of the pdl paperwork? I'm still writing checks to Walmart and grocery stores. But, then again, maybe they just haven't turned my name in yet. Or maybe it's just not going to happen. I don't know! Like I said, if you find any more information out, please post it. I had 10 payday loans I defaulted on, including one very legal storefront, and I have no problems writing checks at any stores.....I think that it is Teletrack that they report to.
