Payday Loan Nightmare

I borrowed $300 over a year ago from (what shows up on my bank statement) Timberhill Invt-Loanshop. I have lost there number and twice a month for the last 13 months they have been debiting my account $90. Totalling almost $2500. Is that ok for a lender to do that? If not what can I do? And how can I stop them from debiting my bank account?

No, this is not okay for a lender to do. Please post what state you reside in and any info. on the pdl that gave you the loan. You need to do something with your bank account to stop them from debiting you any further. You have sooooooo overpaid these people, it's frightening. Please post where you are located and we can check your pdl law. Please post what pdl it is exactly and we can check on them also. But, you need to prevent them from debiting your account. There is a link on this site regarding how to go about closing your bank account. Read that and get information. We can work from there. But you need to give us some more information and you need to get that bank account closed so they can't hit it any more. They will never stop. As you have found out. I'm so sorry this has been going on for so long. But we can help you out of it. Please post any questions at all. But you really need to get that account taken care of so they can't hit it again and get any more money from you. We are here for you. :D

You're in good hands. bflow is also in Tenn. We pretty much know what's going on. If you can, post exactly who the pdl is. And you took the loan out for $300? And you've paid back approximately $2,500?

The company shows up on my bank statement as Timber Hill Invt-Loan Shop. I didn't realize how long they'd been debiting my account until recently. What should I tell my bank? I really don't want to have to close my account. But if this keeps going on I'll end up in the poor house while Timber Hill is rolling around in my money.

I am so happy i found this site-to begin with 7/31/07
I had to stop payment on company i had never heard of
Express cash-they took out 320.00-a few weeks back i stopped payments from bank account-i owed loan shop
200.00 with 60 interest to pay every 2 weeks-i never
Signed loan agreement and loan shop never sent me
Any loan renewal papers through email-so i had to pay
20.00 charge for bank to stop any future payments to
Loan shop-i was planning to pay them 200.00 back-50.00
A pay period-i get paid 2x a month-then i found out
Express cash and loan shop are like sister companies-
Loan shop sent express cash to draw money from my bank account-a company i had never heard of-but hopefully i will get my money back into my bank account soon-since i had to pay 40.00 for stop payments

Apparently, according to the above post, this is Express Cash. Did you have a pdl with them? You need to get your account closed. You can not block just one name. These pdl's use different d/b/a's (as you have now found out) and will continue to debit your account for years (as you have now found out). I do not believe this is a licensed pdl. Your first step is to take care of that bank account. I'm sorry to say, but your best bet is to close it out. And make sure it is closed and stays that way. Ask your bank if any "pending debits" will force the account to reopen. If that's the case, you need to get a hard debit block/hard hold/freeze put on this account. They have your account information and will continue to debit you. Please at least put a hard debit block on your account. No debits will go through. Take some money, go to a different bank, and open a new account. Do NOT give this information to anyone. Do NOT apply for any more pdl's. As they share this information (read the above post). You're first step is to get this bank account straightened out ASAP. Please believe me here. We can then work on getting you in contact with the pdl and hopefully maybe, maybe even getting a refund. But, please, take care of your bank account like - now! And please post you update. We can help you with this.

baby...please listen to cannr on this...we have all been there. You can't even put a stop pay on it because they will change the amount and it will still go through..maybe since you only have the one...you can discuss this with your bank and they can open another accountfor you while watching the other to keep it shut down??
IPDLS also the name of the pdl and web site is often different from the name they use to debit your account...maybe that's why you didn't notice it.
