USFastCash (MTE) Settlement Offer - Do I take It?

I took a loan for $300 from USFastCash - I have paid $180 on it. Per PA law, the max amount I would owe on this loan would be $328.50, which would leave an outstanding balance of $148.50 on the loan.

I received the following email from the compliance department of USFastCash stating that they would settle for $210 on or before 8/17.

We have received your email, and researched your account, we are not obligated to let you break the contract agreement you have with us. We will attempt to assist you with one offer of settlement.

The best we can offer in settlement to assist you is a reduction to $210.00 to be paid on or before 08/17/07. You agreed to pay $390.00 when receiving the funds, you have only paid 180.00 toward that original balance, we will give you credit for those payments.
Otherwise the account must continue per the contract. If you have legal questions they must be put in writing to the Legal Dept and faxed to 1-800-470-6614.

This reduced balance must be paid by Moneygram, as directed below. We will not debit your account via ACH again, but if this settlement amount is not made by 07/31, the account will go to collections for the full amount due, and further action per the contract will take place. There will be no exceptions made for this settlement offer, the terms are set.

MoneyGram Instructions: Call 1-800-926-9400 for a location neat you, or at most Wal-Mart's
Pay To: USFastCash
Receive Code: 4307
City/State: Miami, OK
Account-XXXXXXXXX-Compliance Dept
Please confirm this offer by email by Thursday 08/02 , or the account will continue in collections for the full amount now due.

US Fast Cash Compliance Department
Fax: 1-800-470-6614
Email: compliancedepartment(at)usfastcash.com

My question is this - do I take it? I'm thinking yes, because they are MTE and if I can get them off my back, then great! But, do you think this is a crock? Are they going to take my payment and then say that it is not enough and keep harassing me for more money? What do I do?

Next question - is the date to agree today (7/31) or Thursday (8/2)? There is conflicting information in the email.

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

tukki, they're telling you they need you to respond to their settlement offer by 07/31 (today). If you want them off your back, go for it. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with them once they've agreed upon a settlement amount. They put it in writing that they will not ACH your account. They just want their money by 08/17. You need to respond to them today with your acceptance or non-acceptance. Good for you with getting a settlement. If you accept, email them back, tell them you agree upon it, but get them to state (again) that once they receive xxxx dollars on 08/17, your account will be PIF and they will no longer contact you. Get it in writing.

I just noticed the 08/02 versus the 07/31. If you want to be safe, (they're idoits) respond today. This just shows how retarded they are. But, I'm afraid that if you don't respond today (as they put 7/31) they might "change their mind" on the settlement. Up to you, my friend!

If you can afford to pay it I would take it, because they will turn you over to a third party collector very quickly as they did to me. Even though the collector will not be able to collect on it you are going to go through lots of aggravation and work dealing with the CA. You must ask yourself, what is your time and aggravation worth?

Yes, tukki. It is a start. And a good one. To get a settlement from MTE that is reasonable is a great start! :D

frog, I've been compiling a list of MTE Financial's d/b/a's, but sometimes get "surprised" by yet another d/b/a. I'm thinking of starting a post (?) where we can have members list their pdl's that are actually MTE Financial. I've got around 18 d/b/a's right now. But a new one snuck up on me the other day. What's your opinion about it? :?:

Tukk - I took the account number out for you! I missed that when I read it too, so don't feel bad . . . .

I agree that it's a good idea to accept the offer. It's close enough to what you owe, and it's worth it to have these guys off your back. Just be sure to document everything, in case they do try to come back and say you still owe.

jen, trying to understand MTE Financial is pointless! They are so unpredictable! Some people they will settle with, some they will offer a pif, others they will lie to, etc. I just so happen to be one that they wouldn't reason with. I'm happy for the people that make head-way with MTE. I can't figure them out myself! That's why it's great when everyone posts their experience with them. Then we know they're different tactics and we can see the inconsistancies with them. They are amazing!

tukki, unfortunatley, yes. I am serious about them having that many d/b/a's. It's really sad. No one knows who they are really dealing with! There are a few other pdl's that have many different d/b/a's. Like Sonic, Cash Today, BIG, etc... But MTE has the longest list so far.

cynthia, no, Cash2Day4U is not part of MTE Financial. They are part of another group entirely. And I understand the confusion! It took me FOREVER to figure out who was who when I was looking at the debits on my bank account! Cash2Day is one of the overseas illegal pdl's. What do your debits say? Maybe we can figure out which pdl's they belong to. Sad, isn't it?

Ten Dollar is MTE Financial. I don't know about that other pdl. This is the first I've heard of them.

Tukki, I am dealing with usfastcash and was wondering how long it took you to hear from them. I have now written them 3 times and filed with the BBB but havent heard anything yet. I contacted them at the same time as oneclickcash who has already made me an offer and i have settled with them. I would be happy to just get a decent settlement offer to get them off my back since i have only overpaid them a small amount and they are the last pdl i am waiting to hear from. So far i have been really lucky! 1 refund, 3 PIF's and 1 settlement(paid one additional weeks interest, worth it to get oneclickcash out of my hair!) One to go, and they have to be stubborn!! lol.

Personally, I think USFastCash is hiding out for right now. We went around and around and around for quite a while. Now they've "disappeared" for over a month. I think the agencies are coming down on them. However, don't be surprised if they pop back up. But they've been VERY quiet lately.....

Yeah, morningstarr. I responded like 3 times with the BBB regarding any MTE d/b/a's. Now suddenly it's silent. LOL! Did my AG complaint scare them? Hope so! Let them crawl back under their rock. Oh sure, now that I said that, I'll get on my email tomorrow and THEY WILL BE THERE!

Hooray, Usfastcash finally replied monday. They offered a settlement which is an overpayment but for $125 bucks to get a PIF, it is worth it to get them out of my hair! I am almost finished! I owe $80 bucks to needspeedycash which i can payoff this week and i will be paying off Nationalpayday at the end of the month (still owe on princple there and i have heard they are a nightmare to deal with). YIPPEE!~! happy dance~@~~@~~@~~@ :D Byebye payday loans, and thank you all for your invaluable advice. I couldnt have done it without you! Final score: Payday loans 1, Debtconsolidation.com 5. I'll give the two i 'settled' with a 1/2 point each since i 'paid them off'. Good luck to all, i will be around on a regular basis to help out if i can and hopefully see all the  pdl's go down in flames where they belong!

vlin, good for you! If you want to settle, settle. At least they'll go away! Just make sure you get something from them in writing (even just an email) stating that your account is PIF and that they will no longer contact you regarding the issue. Good job!

I just received a "final collection" email from USFastCash today. Shouldn't this have been "final" like 6 months ago??? What is their time frame? Good Lord! They want $560.00. Isn't that dandy? These are the idiots that I was told to "leave them alone" and began sending my emails back to me. These are the idiots that I argued with about 5 times just through the BBB. These are the idiots that have received two letters from my AG and are not responding. Now they send me this "final collection" letter for $560.00, but it says "do not respond to this email". Damn good thing I'm not going to pay them $560.00, because if I wanted to, I couldn't respond to them telling them that I would!

USFastCash is MTE Financial. They are not licensed anywhere in the United States.

I understand how you feel about dealing with MTE. I ended up with a loan thru them when I was stuck on the cycle of PDLs with no end in sight to get out of it. Thanks to my mom loaning me the money I have paid off all my PDLs and the installment loan I had with Check N Go. MTE is difficult to work with even under normal circumstances. They got upset with me when I called them and told them I wanted to set up a payment to pay my loan off in full before the roll over date. Let me tell you they weren't happy. I had to write out a letter stating that I wanted to pay my account off in full early and to cover myself at the end of the letter I put in that I wanted something from them either via email or USPS stating that my account was PIF and closed. Congrats to you on getting them off your back.

As long as it worked! God love them. They didn't want you to get out of paying 1,000 years on a $300 loan! Poor babies! I'm just so glad things are working out for you, blue! And, I'm loving that you've got an awesome avatar up! :D
