Langhorne Debt Solutions - Does anybody have any info about them?
I found langhornedebtsolutions.com site, filled out the form, and received a call yesterday. I haven't had a chance to speak to them, mainly because I want to see if anybody on the forum has any insight into this company. I don't know anything about them, and I don't want to get into any more messes. They seem legit, BBB certified, so I'm hopeful.
If you know anything about Langhorne debt solutions, your input is HIGHLY appreciated.
Thanks guys! You all rock!

I also called Langhorne to see if they could help me. Their representative was very nice and gave me some very good advice with regards to closing my bank accounts, ensuring a "hard hold" on my closed account, and rescinding any wage assignments I may have unintentionally given to the various lenders.
The only reason I decided not to proceed with them was due to the cost. They say they will negotiate a settlement of around 30-50% of what you owe, however, if you add up the monthly payments they are asking for, it appears they are going to be receiving some pretty substantial monies for their effort.
I figure that I will just put aside X-amount of dollars each month and when I have $300 or so, I will contact one of the various lenders and see if I can work out a payment arrangement with them myself.
Best of luck to you!

Stay away from Langhorne Debt Solutions, they take all your money, and if you missed one payment they will drop you and tell the PDLs companies that you are no longer their client. You should also watch for their deduction you put money in your saving and they still go into your checking.
Langhorne
I disagree with the posting above. Langhorne takes their payment from whatever account you ask them to. You are supposed to have a separate savings account that you are putting money in for settlements - Langhorne does not touch that. The settlements are paid directly by me not by Langhorne. I have been with them since October of 2008 and am very happy. Had 7 loans - down to 2. YEAH!

I just finished a year with Langhorne Debt. They are a complete joke and did not fulfill anything they advertised.
They tried to tell me that a $400 debt (from an illegal payday loan company) was purchased by a collection agency for $700 and that I should pay that amount. Of course I balked. A few weeks later, they sent an email saying they had settled for $490 and that they recommended I take this great deal. They hinted they would drop me if I didn't accept.
I didn't accept and finally told them to cancel their "service." Of course, this was after they got all their money from me.
They either don't answer questions or give vague responses. They do a pretty good job of making it seem like they are professionals and on your side, but I pretty much think they are a bunch of crooks.
I'm happy to provide more details offline or here.

Langhorne Debt
I was going to sign up with LDS until I found this forum and realized I could do it myself. When a representative from LDS calledme to follow up, I explained I had heard the internet PDL were illegal in Va. I had closed account, revoked ACH, etc. I explained about filing complaints with all government agencies. He acted very surprised. I cannot believe LDS would be unaware of the legal status of lenders. Why settle an account for 30 or even 50% if you can get it written off? If I can find these resources so readily, why couldn't they do it? I know its different if the pdl's are legal, but think of the settlement money clients could save if they investigated the legality first. It did not impress me as being on the ball.

Langhorne knows about the legal status of lenders. In fact, after you sign up with them you get a BS "analysis" of creditors, which outlines each creditor, whether they are legal or not, and what you can expect in terms of settlement. The problem is that Langhorne does nothing close to getting the terms they outlined in the analysis.
They just want you to feel good about their service for the 6 months when they grab most of their payment from you. After that, they are a joke.
stay away from langhorne
Anyone out there listening, I use to work for a PDL company, Langhorne is a complete scam, they are actually affiliate with a PDL company so their main priority it to get the money back that you borrowed from their sister company. You make them payment and when you default just once they keep all the money you've paid them to date and they drop you as a client. They take your money and you are still left owing all the other PDL companies. Negotiate a repayment plan yourself don't deal with these people cease and desist letters don't work on first party PDL companies if they loaned you the money you cannot tell them not to contact you for repayment they are not (at least not all of them) collections agencies. Cease and desist works for 3rd party collectors not first party. If you are taking out a PDL you need the money don't waste money dealing with langhorne you will find yourself in a deeper financial whole. Any posts out here that are saying good things about langhorne i guarantee they work for them. I did collections for 2 years at a PDL company and every day we would rcv numerous faxes revocation of authority (what a joke) the same day we would receive tons of faxes saying they no longer represent an individual (that means someone has defaulted on payment) but in 2 yrs we never ever received a dime from langhorne for the hundreds of customers they claimed to have represented. yet i would speak to customers and they would say they've paid langhorne hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars. Good luck all.

I was right down to the wire on going with them and now I am SO GLAD that I chose to do it on my own. I know I'm saving myself a bunch of money. The one thing that concerned me with Langhorne was that they were only interested in the amount of the loan and didn't care about what you've already paid on the loan....so basically I would end up paying double or triple on a loan that I probably already paid off in principal. It just didn't make sense to me.

It's a year-long program and the fees are front loaded. Most of the settlements come in the last half of the program when their fees go down and you start saving more money for them to offer to the lenders.

dada6868 - the guest post is right. Until you get to the months when their fee drops, there isn't much to offer in the way of settlement. I have been in the program since August and they have settled my 2nd account. I have been pleased with the service. I also agree with others that this is something one could do on their own, if they had the time/energy to invest in it. I didn't have that option with working a full-time and part-time job so I signed up with Langhorne. The amount I have to pay them in their fee was worth it to me not to worry with phone calls, etc.

Please don't use Langhorne Debt Rosalind. I was just about to sign up with them and read all the horrible stuff about them. They will not stop the calls and the payday loan companies will call you and all your references. I had 10 loans about one month ago. I was paying $1200 just in fees. My debt with them was over $3000. I am now down to 5 with fees just about $350. I plan to pay one off for the next few weeks. Call the companies yourself and ask them to waive a fee or if you pay in full will they waive the fee. I said I would sign with Langhorne but never actually signed all the legal stuff but it took me over two weeks to get them to understand I wasn't going to use them. DO IT ON YOUR OWN!!!!

It is a tricky game to play when you call them. LIE if you have to. They are mean companies and they have no cares about anyone. Call them back until you get the answer you want. Tell them that you may lose your job and want them to waive the fee or if you pay it off can they waive the fee. Do whatever you can. About a month ago I was about to have a nervous breakdown because of them but now I have my life back. Do anything and say anything. Keep calling.

Do NOT use Langhorne Debt Solutions
The only thing they are good at is taking your money. They say they negotiate settlements with the pdl companies but they do not. The "settlements" they negotiate are so unreasonable and the phone calls do NOT stop they only get worse. They may stop for a couple of weeks but then they get really bad. I have 6 pdl that Langhorne was supposed to be negotiating for me. After being in their program for 2 weeks the settlement that was offered was pay the entire amount within 5 days or you will get sued. I begged Langhorne to negotiate a reasonable payment plan for me but they didn't do anything. They listed the settlement offer as rejected and now the pdl company is suing me. The loan settlement offered was for $200 to be paid within 5 days, I asked Langhorne to counter with $100 within 5 days and the $100 balance in 14 days. They didn't do ANYTHING!!!! And now I am being sued for over $600. The settlement from another company was pay $325 within 5 days or they will take action against me. Do NOT use Langhorne, they are nothing but a ripoff company. I think they actually work for the payday loan companies and not us. It sounds like a good idea but there is no way you can have enough money in your "savings" account to pay the pdls based on the demands of the pdl companies. Langhorne gets their money and you are left fending for yourself. Beware, they are nothing but a scam!!!!!!

You say Langhorne settled a $600 loan for $200 and because they couldn't get the deadline extended for you that makes them a scam? Wow . . .
uh no,the loan wasn't for 600.00.they are being sued for 600.00.
uh no,the loan wasn't for 600.00.they are being sued for 600.00.probably on a 300.00 loan.sorry, but if they were legit.the settlements would be in time frame to benefit the client, not the pdl.

I am also using Langhorne. I have settled four of my lenders and now have three left with Langhorne. I think someone here said it best when they said "if you have nerves of steel than you can possibly work out the debts yourself." For me?? I just didnt have the TIME. I am taking good notes and keeping track of the calls - BUT, I work during the day and just dont have the time to devote to answering the phone or writing and faxing letters. I have done some of this, but I found Langhorne to be a good solution for me. I understand it isnt for everyone, and some folks would rather work the details out on their own. I appreciate this website though, I check in here daily.

I checked into using Langhorne and found that I would be paying them a little over $1,400 for their services. I have 7 payday lenders for a total of $2,500. I do not have nerves of steel, but decided to do it myself. I used the C&D template letter, rewrote it in my own words and as it applies to Ohio law and my personal situation. 5 of the payday lenders are not even licensed to do business in Ohio. However, I felt that I should at least pay back what I originally borrowed, minus interest, late charges, and payments already made. Surprisedly, so far 2 lenders have responded back and have agreed to those terms. I am sending them payments every 2 weeks VIA money orders and US Postal Service. My situation is far from being over and will probably take a few more months, but I am saving over $1,400 by doing it myself. It is because of this web site and the encouragement and advice that I have received so far that I feel confident that I can do this alone.
