Wow, that sounds awful. I'm dealing with a rude colleciton company myself and people on this board have gave me great solutions for reporting them.
I would see about looking up GECC on the net and see if you can find an address for them so you can write them a letter of complaint.

lostlady,
I'm giving you my contact information with GECC. It's one of the supervisors that worked with me. Try giving her a call. She wasn't nasty, we made an agreement, and I am now done with them. It's worth a try. Here's the contact info.
Tracy L. Callaway
Customer Relations Supervisor
phone: 1-302-737-0926 ext. 302

Hope this helps! Keep us posted on if it gets any results!

I would keep a small notebook by the phone so everytime a rude collector from this company or any other calls you can jot down details on the call after you hang up while it's still fresh in your memory. That way if you wind up filing with your state AG you will have lots of details to give them.

ks, EXACTLY! I always have paper and pencil. If I get a call, a voice message, whatever, I write down every detail. Time, who it was, what was said, etc. My documentation has proved VALUABLE in filing my complaints. People were amazed I "kept such good records". LOL! It's only because I'm so paranoid! But, it really does help.

That really is a good idea to do that. i always get nervous while on the phone and forget the name of the person I'm dealing with. I should keep a little book so that I can remember to jot down the name and then put down the details while it's all fresh. Thanks for the tip!
sullivana
sullivana, believe me. I am the biggest stresser on this place about documentation (well, maybe besides frogpatch!). Keep everything. If at all possible, try not to even speak to them over the phone. Try to just keep the contact via email or USPS. That way you're covered. But if you do get calls or even return a call (if you're feeling brave!), make sure you write everything down. I write the date, the time, the name, what was said, etc. Everything. You will be amazed at how much it comes in handy for future reference. Works wonders when you can come back with dates, names, whatever, when the pdl's try to pull something on you. Oh no. Documentation, baby!

It's always a good idea to have that notebook handy for documentation, but also to remind yourself of what to say when they get nasty! Take one page of that notebook and jot down the references to the fdcpa and use them when necessary - especially when they make threats they can't (or don't intend to) carry out, like jail, court, etc.

Thanks for the tips! I've learned alot through my 'stupidity' but it's nice to learn tricks of the trade in advance :)

It's also good because PDL's will try and get you upset and if you are like me, once I get upset, everything gets forgotten.

Oh yeah, they always make me feel lower and low-- I start to studder and eyes get watery... I'm not a sissy but I hate the way they make you feel so low!

I pretty much told PD Recovery I wasn't going to pay anything more and I wanted a PIF - after a few calls I thought I had it then last week Tracy from GECC sent me a letter and indicated I had not communicated with them at all but was willing to give me a PIF if I signed and faxed a document releasing them and it even had a statement that I had to provide proof I withdrew any complaints from the BBB and the AG. There wasn't anything in the document that I signed that said as much so I signed and faxed and they have still been reported to the AG and BBB.
