Received a call today at work

From a Robert Mathews from "crime division" reguarding US Federal bank. First off I have to say I could barely understand him he had a real thick accent. It sounded like he was calling from a pay phone very loud and muffled. He told me that I was going to be "downloaded" by 12:00 today. He argured with me and I asked him over and over to send me something in writing he refused. He gave me a balance of 2,390 for payday loans. He started arguing with me over the phone and I just said look I cant talk to you now about this. I told him I would have my attorney call him. He gave me this number 641-237-6598. I cant find anything on this company. He just said the company name was "crime division".

Please help!

Anyone who is called by a person claiming to be from some sort of enforcement agency, please ask for the phone number to their local police or FBI office, for verification, and see what they say. An actual enforcement agency or department will be backed by every law enforceement organizations, from local cops on up to the National Security Agency. If you get the run around or the caller becomes elusive and refuses to give you any information, just simply say, and I quote, "Fuk off!!!" If that is too profane for you to say, simply inform them that they will be receiving a visit from their local FBI or police department. I would actually dispatch a unit to investigate why they are impersonating an enforcement officer, which is a felony in most states.

I just get "fired up" because no matter how many ways I state that these companies are committing crimes, it seems to not make a difference to how some people handle it from that point. No offense to anyone, but when I see my fellow consumers busting their ass to make a living only to have some crooked @sshole threaten them with arrest, I get frustrated, and wish that I could be in their shoes when the phone rings again and the illegal collector is making threats. Anyone still scared, stop it, and turn that fear into anger and go after these thieves.

I just got a call from the same guy from the same number telling me that he is sending the cops to come and arrest me! He kept calling and calling me at work saying vile things to my co-workers calling them things I wouldn't dream of. I am so humiliated. He told me that he is a Private Investigator and he wanted $690.00 or he was sending someone to arrest me. I told him if I had that kind of money I wouldn't have needed a loan in the first place! I searched the number on google and see that this guy has pulled this stunt on a lot of people!

I just got a call from this same bs group and the phone number he gave me for contact was 410-807-4511 but the number he called me from was 240-365-0592. I realize that this is a really old post, but I was hoping one of you might still be around and help me. I tried to file a complaint with the FTC but they said that the US National Bank was not a real bank and that I needed to know who the actual creditor for the original payday loan was. I have no idea. They said it makes a difference in whether it is a state or federal complaint. Can anyone help me because I really want to file a complaint. These guys get away with to much and hurt to many people in the process.
Thanks.

I don't know if anyone is still around on this site, but I had to share this info and thank all of you for your posts all those months ago. They have turned this whole experience around. This is some funny stuff!!! My husband just called the number back and they wouldn't answer so he left a voice message and he said he was from our local Chamber of Commerce calling to find out why their dues hadn't been paid. He said he was going to drop them from the list of businesses if their dues weren't received by the end of business today. He ended the call by saying he was filing fraud charges with the FBI! It was really hilarious!

Hello all. My wife received a phone call from US National Bank from a Karen Richardson and said we owed 2300. We have already paid them 1500. Can she get in trouble if we just stop paying. We have the same situation with a Patrick Davis. I know now that this is a phoney company and was wanting to know since we have already started to pay them if we should continue?

I got a call from 856-831-0640 last week and again today. The woman spoke with a heavy accent and left me a message saying I better call her back immediately or the events would unfold. They said they were calling about a payday loan I took out in 2005 and that I was being charged with bank fraud and check fraud and computer fraud and that I was going to be arrested. I am really scared. Has anything actually happened to anybody. It sounded like an indian woman. I didn't answer the call today because she got me so upset last week and I am at work. I don't know what to do. I called out attorney generals office and they said payday loan companies no longer have a right to collect in NC and they can't do anything but I am still scared. Has anything actually happened to anyone?

You are right, they are a fraud. They talked about a payday loan that was taken out in 2005. It was discharged through bankruptcy, by the caller states that it cannot be written off in bankruptcy. They had my social security number and an old bank account number. They threatened to have me arrested by noon the next day if I didn't pay them that day. You cannot be arrested for a debt like that. If the payday loan comany was to come after you, they would sue you, not arrest you. And a debt collector cannot threaten you with an action that they surely cannot take. I filed a report with the F.B.I.
