Received a call today at work

From a Robert Mathews from "crime division" reguarding US Federal bank. First off I have to say I could barely understand him he had a real thick accent. It sounded like he was calling from a pay phone very loud and muffled. He told me that I was going to be "downloaded" by 12:00 today. He argured with me and I asked him over and over to send me something in writing he refused. He gave me a balance of 2,390 for payday loans. He started arguing with me over the phone and I just said look I cant talk to you now about this. I told him I would have my attorney call him. He gave me this number 641-237-6598. I cant find anything on this company. He just said the company name was "crime division".

Please help!

This downloading part is such BS! Downloading what is waht i ask??? They're trying to scare u! I'm sure someone will be along shortly with help for u!
U may need more information than just his name or maybe a search of this number.
Good Luck and plz dont' worry about being d/l that's total BS!
Ang

Tweety, I did a search on here about US National Bank. Do you remember that you got a call from them back in April and they were going to pick you up at your job and have you arrested? It has to be the same crew of idiots. There are several other threads about them. I would report that number to the FCC and tell them it is being used for fraud. There is no bank called US National or US Federal that I can find. Especially in Iowa.

He told tweety US Federal Bank (no such bank) but when kash called he said US National Bank - there is one, but it's in Omaha. Hello. And the phone number is NOWHERE except when you dial it (which as stated is in Iowa somewhere). Probably some dude sitting on his couch in front of the TV making pdl calls.

No. It is simply a scare tactic being used by someone who hopes the other person falls for it. They are really risking getting prosecuted by making illegal threats and falsly calling themselves a national bank and giving out a traceable phone number. Like I said I would go to the FCC web site and file a complaint. Also with the AG in Indiana where the number comes from and the Indiana State Police. It is around Clear Lake. My brother lives there and has the same area code. Also file a complaint with the federal trade commisision. Next time they call just hang up. Do you have caller ID? When I get call the number if know and the name comes up on my phone and TV screen if its on. I refuse to answer any I don't know or don't wish to talk to.

So I called the number and a middle eastern man answered the phone and the converstion went like this.
"Hello."
"Hi, who is this?" I asked
"unintelligable name" he garbled
"No What company is this?"
"Ist National Bank." I replied.
"Do you mean US National Bank?"
"Yes thats it."
"Can I help you?" he asked.
"May I speak to the branch manager?"
"He is not here today, Can I help you?"
"How about the Assistant Manager?"
"He is in a meeting."
"Is there anyone there?"
"Not today. Can I help you?"
"Can you tell me what your prime lending rate is."
"No I am an operator."
"you are not a bank."
"This is a bank center."
"Center for what."
"collecting loans"
"For who?"
"Pay day loans for many companies."
"Oh! I see. You are not a bank."
"No."
"Thanks, have a nice day."
"OK Bye"

He was not used to receiving calls, only making them.

"What company do you want?"

Hey Tweety ~ good to see you!!! I would not worry about this guy. Like everyone has said, it does sound like a scare tatic and nothing more. Asking for proof that he is who he says he is....bet he won't be able to provide you with anything. Tell him you need his full name, his business name, his business address, his ID number and whatever else you can come up with. Tell him you want to check him out to verify that he is who he says he is. Tell him you want to "download" his information. Heck have some fun with these people. Better yet, block your number and call him and say you are detective "Tweety" and are looking for Mr. Whatever his name is due to reports of fraud and stalking a Ms. (your name) and see what happens. Turn the tables on them.

Someone call him up and ask if they want to join the Northeast Iowa Chamber of Commerce. Then someone else call him and say you are the welcoming commtee and invite him to a box lunch. Then someone else call and try to sell him Mugs and tee shirts with the name of his bank. Next week call him up and try to collect the money for the mugs and tee shirts that he took delivery on. Try to get him to pay for al the box lunches that you have a recorded signature for. The possibilities are endless.

Don't worry about these calls at all. I just started getting them myself last week at work. I have not spoken to them. This same thing happened last year but with a different number but indicating they were from US Federal Bank or something like that demanding payment via Western Union by noon or they were going to have my file downloaded to the local law enforcement and that I would be arrested because of some payday loan, it is bull. I contacted my attorney and he called them and indicated that they answered the phone just saying hello and not mentioning the company. After he spoke to them, I didn't receive a call again until last week, same type of thing though. I think it is a yearly event that they change numbers and start calling people and try to scare them into paying. My attorney told me not to worry about it, there is process they need to follow and the way they are doing it is not correct. They even threatened to arrest one of my coworkers for not putting me on the phone last year, it was getting ridiculous. So do not worry. They need to send you a certified letter if they are going to file a lawsuit or anything like that. They can't just call you and harrass you and scare you into paying, so don't worry about it. If you have your attorney contact them, they will stop calling but it may happen again in about year. I was scared last year and almost paid it, thank god for sites like this to explain other people are getting the same thing, that is what made me call my attorney.

well Robert Matthews and Edward Steele called me to collect on PayDay Loans. They gave me my IP address and my social security and name about loans that were not paid off. They are in Jacksonville, FL and Athens, TN. The number 641-237-6598. I asked for a fax. Well I was scared to crap. I'm a gulible guy. Very as I'm able to see from these converstaions. So now after I do this he will fax me over confirmation. So what do you guys think?

Can any one help me?? These people from first national bank keep calling...persistently calling. They keep saying that my name keeps coming up on a legal document and that I am going to be sued on a number of criminal charges. They refuse to send me copies of the legal document. I had to fight with them to get the name of their company and they won't tell me who the payday loan people are that I supposedly owe money to. Is this what happened to you guys? Do they keep calling you?
