Help for PDLs in Oregon

I dealt with them!!! OMG!! With my prosper loan! They are bad - Really bad - I will have to tell you about them!

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be sending them a letter to not call my office. Now that they know they can get a hold of me here, the calls are coming often! They talked to me last night before I left work and then called me again this morning. They like to switch up the reps. The one called me last night was not the same as this morning, but the lady this morning had talked to me before. I told her I'd try to get some payment, but I wasn't going to give them a 'dated check', she called today to see if I'd changed my mine. Reminded me the calls will continue...

But they are certainly the collectin agency right and I can tell them to stop calling me?

They are absolutly a collection agency. When I was dealing with them they wouldn't even tell me their name.

I had to go and look at Prosper's website. They have a page on the collection agencies they use. Penncro is listed on it.

I had a few slip up and say Penncro and then said Prosper so that I'd know what they were talking about. They just sent me a letter in the mail too, so I know I have their address, it is a PO box I think but I have it so I can send them a letter. I wonder if I should look into an email address as well...

Despite their shady practices from what I've heard Penncro is licensed in Oregon, so that means if they do not follow the rules they can get their license revoked after you file some complaints. I'll keep my eye out for any rules broken....

Okay so remember how I said CashCall sent me an offer, if I pay them 216.55 by tomorrow and send them a fax all will be well and I won't have to give them any more money until December. Well I just paid my bills and if it weren't for an item that broke that we took back to get a refund, we'd be in the red again. Total miscalculation, that extra money I had manuevered that I planned to pay this with is no longer there. So now what?

I just got a "Notice of Intent to Initiate Arbitration Claim." Which I'm not completely sure what Arbitration means exactly but I do understand that I'm going to get sued. No selling of this account... No, but I do have some lawyer contacts now.... I might be needing one of them soon.

Okay seriously, I would like to know what going through arbitration is like, especially anyone having experience with CashCall and arbitration....

Today could go either way today. I suspect it might be a bad kind of day. I woke up late, didn't even realise the alarm had gone off. I check my email to find that my insurance finally wrote me back as to why I had a double payment, re-stating that if I didn't have a payment postmarked from Sunday then my insurance would be cancelled. Well I tell you what, I didn't send out any payment in the mail before then, because I was waiting to hear back why I had the double payment.

So I called, because I finally had a phone number. I was going to call last week but I couldn't find it and all they had was the email form in the contact us page, which is why I sent an email... And the bit of good luck I had today, the lady was nice, I told her the situation on how I was waiting and how I didn't have the money, and she made some arrangements for it not to be cancelled and they'd bill me for 1/3 of the remaining.

And with getting B's license which overdrew us, my car payment automatically coming out, and my insurance needing to be paid, I don't think I'll have enough for rent. Once again I'm screwed and anything I planned to do with my money doesn't happen at all.

As a bonus my friend emails me saying she had a message left on her phone, some guy mentioned her as a reference and she needed to tell me to call them, left a number but no name. The number searched as my car loan. I had called them last week, giving them account numbers to take a payment next week, and told them my phone was being shut off to call my office. But I think they tried my cell again, got the no longer connected message and started calling my references. Even though I've made arrangements and told them how to contact me. I'm very irritated and I suspect my friend is irritated with me too.

This is not stuff I want to deal with first thing in the morning. Now I'm going to be on edge all day and I probably won't get a thing done... And that upsets me too!

I wish I could tell you how arbitration goes, but I haven't been through it. I've been through mediation, which I think is similar, but I dont' know for sure. Pretty much, I think it's you, Cash Call, and a arbitrator sitting in a room working out arrangements.

I'm glad to hear at least your insurance isn't going to be cancelled! At least it's not the worst it could be . . . .

True and B just called and has another interview. Something that could be a carrer I think... So she's excited and so today she is going to go cut more wood. It is looking up and that makes me feel a bit better.... Just don't know how next month is going to go....

Pencro is at it again, despite the fact that I told them over the phone last week to not call me at work. They however refuse to do so because they don't have any other number for me. What to do? I haven't sent the letter yet, I honestly don't have enough money to send anything certified, but I do have a few stamps so I guess I could send one non certified... Help!

Send it normal mail then. At least it's a start. They aren't going to listen until they get it in writing.

I could give them a number, it is not like B has to answer it... In fact she told me to give it to them so they'd stop harrassing me at work. I might give it to them and then when they get the letter they'll have to cease all communication anyway, or that is what it tells them to do, not like they'll follow it...

ameriloan continues their onslaught of phone calls to my work phone. I sent an email to the Dept. of Banking and they said they'd take care of it at their end, but to send them a certified letter for my part. Their last attempts to contact them seemed to had failed, and when I got an email stating that, the phone calls came in almost every day. I'm usually out of the office.

But I haven't heard from Prosper/Penncro for a while yet, so maybe they are off my back (telephone wise....).

Someday I'll have money, but until then I will continue to work my two jobs and use all of that money on food and fuel for now....

Got an email from a Propser lender. It was nice. Words of encouragement and not harassment "where is my money!." So I replied. I wonder if I'll hear back from them unlike anyones else I've emailed or replied to there....

Wow! That is really nice. Maybe they realize if they take a different approach they will get a different answer. When I defaulted on my prosper loan, I got so many nasty messages from the lenders. So much of "I believed your lies" and "You are screwing me" and "You thief". Um, you don't know my or my situation! So I'm glad at least one of your lenders is kind!

ameriloan at it again.

I just spoke with a rep. Which there was emptyness on the phone for a few seconds, which I usually hang up during that time, but I decided to wait it out.

The rep said she was from Ameriloan. I asked for her name. Brandy. I wrote that down. I asked her if there were any notes on my account. "uh... um... let me look... (pause) no there aren't." Well there should be, I've spoken with several reps and sent letters. And what is definitely should say on there is to not call me at work. I'll be sending another email I guess. That is all I have. Bye....

So guess I should get on that letter writing again....

Mike said he did contact them, asked me if I was still hearing from them. I said yes. He said he'd take care of it. I then emailed him a week or two later saying it has gotten worse. And that is when he told me to send them another letter, they will try again on their end.

That is why I asked Brandy if there were any notes to my account. You think there'd be something!

Yeah, I'd think there would be too . . . At least you know that people are helping with it . . . . The only pdl of mine that I had to have the state call stopped right after the first conversation . . . .

It worked for Geneva. They only called once after that, agreeing to the settlement for the 210... and that is when I had the worst conversation ever with the lady who was calling me a thief...

I Heard from Mike! He said he finally found ameriloan... They are in the UK, mentioned Route 66 and others...

And I'll get back to that because I just spoke with United Cash Loan. They did their usual spiel at the beginning. I said "you should have received a letter in the mail regarding that account and in that letter it says to only contact me via usps." He says "Now how can we have received that letter when we don't having a mailing address." I said "If you are a business you should have a mailing address because that is just dumb." He said he couldn't make any notes to my account not to call me because in the contract it says blah blah blah... I didn't catch it because I said, Look I'm going to hang up now, you are not going to call me again, and I'm going to be calling the state department and filing a complaint....

I think next time I'm going to try the 'info gathering' method, try to get their address and license number and such. I used to just hang up when I heard the pause from the auto dialer. Now I'm going to mess with them.

But now back to Mike. He said Ameriloan is with that whole big UK group. So he essentially told me to just ignore them in hopes that they go away. Because they are totally illegal and they can't do jack to me. If they tried then that'd be alright too, so that they could go after them. He also seemed to imply that I just not even bother paying them anymore. Note that is "seemed to imply", it could also just be my wishful thinking.

So if Ameriloan is UK then United Cash is too.... I think next time I mess with them I'll ask them if they are in the UK right now, or if the Americans they hire are actually in America... Because Ameriloan had a few people call me sounded like they were from the south.

I guess I'm not sure what to do about either of them. I can send letters again, especially since they 'don't have a mailing address'....

I don't see why the UK people are scamming the very weak dollar right now? They can't be making much money....

Got a phone call. Well a message actually. I have tried searching for the number 866-869-8030, but to no avail. It could be any number of creditors not just PDLs. Only left the actual name of the person calling me... Which I just searched the name and all I got were pages in italian....

So do I call back? Or wait.... I just wish someone knew what the phone number was....

I'm feeling defeated again. That is why I hate phones, only this wasn't a call from an evil PDL. It was from home. Our water bill arrived, which has a past due on it. Why do all the due dates arrive a few days before my pay date does? My paycheck is gone with Rent and Car, I don't know how much I'm getting from my second job, because I drew a large amount from it already. If I don't pay water, then that gets shut off... I'm late on the Car for November and then I'll be late on December whether or not I pay the car with my paycheck. And I can't be late on Rent.

And all I keep hoping for is another loan because I just can't do this anymore. And whenever we have these kinds of conversations about not having any mony B gets upset and it makes it really hard to see things positively.

B called me back and reminded me that I can draw from my second job paycheck again to pay the water... It will be tight again, but we can do it. Hopefully I'll be getting lots of money for Christmas...which I guess I'll just turn right around and hand it back....

Okay I just got a little depressed reading over in Community Success Stories.... I mean I'm greatful that others have gotten out from under the mess, geting PIF right away, and I feel bad that they often way overpaid and will never see a refund. But I just really wish I had at least one PIF... I don't see it happening any time soon.

Poko, I dont think you are a whiner at all. Sometimes it takes so damn long for these things to happen. You are fighting the good fight, and that is what matters. It will happen. I promise. Are you being bombarded with calls etc? You can vent here anytime.

United Cash is my current bombardment of calls, but they aren't nearly as bad as other people have been getting. I'm just frustrated at barely getting by. But I have to keep in mind that even with that I'm doing better than some. I still have my car, I still have my job, I just owe a lot of people a lot of money.

Alliance Asset Management just called me. They are dealing with the Authorized Payday loan that I had. They told me I owed them $500. It took me a while to figure out with PDL they represented first of all, and when I finally got that information. I told them I can't take care of that right now.... And I asked for something to be send in the mail or to my email. She said we can't do that. So she send they'll mark me as refusal to pay... Told me to look up that information online, I should have read the contract... Blah blah blah. I said I didn't say anything but to send me papwer work! And she kept going off so I said "you'll be hearing from me." and hung up.

So I searched them and found an address and need to send a debt validation letter.... So I need to search for one of those now. Do I file complaints as well? She said she'd be calling to verify my employment... Should I tell the lady at work to tell them I don't work here anymore if she answers the phone? Or what should I tell her to tell them?

New information... They are licensed in the State of Oregon....

But how does a legal collection agency collect on an illegal debt?

I would call the Dept of Banking - Ask them what can be done about a legal collection agency collecting on an illegal debt. They agency may be able to help with dealing with them.

I've been reading up on them... Apparently sending the debt validation letter tends to shut them up and if it doesn't then filing complaints will, because they are breaking the law if they call you after you send the letter...... But I will be sending Mike an email I think.....

I just checked and I only have $120 left on my principal with them. They were asking me for $500!

Okay I'm working on my debt validation letter, and I have a copy of the DIY and one I searched for... can't remember who it belongs too.

All very good stuff, but they all mention credit report. I don't have a copy of my credit report and I don't know how to get another free one yet (because I already used my free ones a couple of months ago). I'm just not sure how to word it. Do I write, if you've already reported this on my credit... blah blah blah...?

And also should I request that they verify the license number of the original creditor?

Just an update. Still getting calls from ameriloan and United Cash. Both of them left me a message the day after Christmas.

I had to quit my second job before I killed someone. I'm picking up my last paycheck today. But taking B in to check on getting a cna or something similar, there are programs that will pay for it because the demand is so high for people in the health care field. So hopefully that will lead to something productive. And hopefully since I've been a year now at my job, I've been told I should be getting a raise.

But since it is just after Christmas I'm feeling especially poor and just plain worn out. Time to relax, chill out and not spend any money for a while.

Hang in there and relax a little Poko. It is a new year. Enter into it with optimism and I am sure it will be better for you! That goes for everyone on this site who just finished a year that they would like to forgwet!

Good advice frog. I have been where poko is feeling overwhelmed and just plain tired of oweing so much money. It does get better I promise. Sometimes we need to just really appreciate the little things that are good in our lives right now.

I know I only show up to vent anymore. I have been busy. So here is my latest update.

as for PDLs, haven't heard much from them. Just the occasional message left on my phone, and a few phone calls where no one is on the other end right away so I just hang up, knowing it is probably them.

Here is my latests 'egads!' Got a message from a friend saying that my car loan is calling asking for my address. My address? They already have that, that is where they send my bill! Oh wait that means they are thinking about taking my car back soon. I'm freaking out. I'm only 2 months behind now, but they have the right to... doesn't matter how far or how near behind I am.

Just needing to vent, as I usually get some good words of support.

Poko, vent away if you have to. Did you call rregarding the car to see if you can work something out with them?

I'm going to call them this afternoon. I know it is the only way to get it taken care of. But I hate talking to people. They like to harass. Or worse they are nice and seem like they want to work with you and then they don't do what they say they will. But I'm only basing this off of experience....

And I'm not really in a position right now to get caught up, I'll barely be able to make arrangements just to keep at my current level. All I know is I can't have my car taken. And I don't think I'll get enough back in taxes to make even a dent, I might just get enough back to pay off the tax person.

OKay so I called. And of course... YAY! It did wonders.

So lesson the first: call them, and work something out...

I called to let them know when to expect their next payment, that I could pay extra and would try to get caught up. The lady was very nice, asked why I had gotten behind. Then she offered a deferrment. So of course it is more expensive in the long run, because I only took my two 'late' payments (jan and feb) and moved them to the end of loan. But I still had to pay my late charges and fees. But I don't have to worry about the car now until March. So all is well.

Some not so fun news....

My transmission just went out. While we were driving on a snow/ice covered road. The good karma we received from helping someone a bit earlier get unstuck from the snow helped us not roll our car and die, because we went flying off the side and into the sagebrush. The car wasn't damaged (with the exception of the transmission of course), and neither were we. So that is good.

I owe my dad a lot of money now. I consider myself very lucky to have the family I do. I'm very lucky neither of us were hurt. It would be instances such as this that would be good to have money save. But I don't.

And remember people, get everything checked out in your car, spend that money to make sure it is safe and won't explode on you, because that costs way more in the long run.

It's just one thing after another, huh? I feel for you, the second I think I may get ahead something comes and knocks me back again . . . .

Thank goodness you guys are ok! I know this is easier said, but a car can always be replaced!

The funny thing is, if I had hurt the car in anyway, I could get an insurance claim, especially if we had rolled... Horrible to think right? If I only had been almost killed then I wouldn't have to worry about that car ever again.

But yes, we are fine. B was crying today because of our current financial situation, and she never cries. She went and talked to the landlady. When she came to see me (and bring me lunch how sweet), she said we were getting an eviction notice. I just about died. But apparently the landlady would write us one so that we could use it to get help essentially.

B also went into the community college outreach here and looked into getting into nursing classes. She applied for financial aid and all that. She's also going in to check on a summer job. Also I just got a cost of living increase and my actual raise will be on my next paycheck. So things are looking up in general, but there always has to be something to make sure we know life isn't easy.

To those on here that seem like they have info that can help, currently have loan with cashnetusa, loan point, ezcashmedia, mycashnow, and one in town locally quick check. I already have two checking and two savings accounts don't really use the second one right now, 3 of our paychecks are direct deposit, we are in Oregon and bank at B of A, right now checking account is negative (thanks god they paid the rent the check) have $500 worth of fees coming out tomorrow, and one full loan that will is dated tomorrow and will clear tuesday or wednesday. Needless to say our deposits are not going to be enough to clear up the negative balance and pay the achs that are going to go thru tomorrow, so depressed by all this can't sleep, some people are saying to close accounts some I have seen use a place call langhorne debt solutions, which differs in opinion if they really help, am totally drowing, can't sleep, and on anti-depressents, can anyone help me!!!!!
