Help for PDLs in Oregon
I'm wondering what company to talk to, because the last one I talked to told me they couldn't help me with Cash Call. But people here have said they'll help with other payday loans. And I just recieved another call where I was told, they don't work with payday loans and especially not cash call.
I've looked at doing it myself, but I can't do anything with my bank, as I'm overdrawn. They can't put a stop to the Internet Payday Loans, because they can't charge me the fee if they know I'm over drawn. I just had my dad put in $1000, and when my rent and car payment go through, I'll be back down there again and that doesn't include any of my other bills, most of which are overdue now. I can't put a full stop on my bank because then my car and rent won't go through and I'll be in serious trouble there. As well I wouldn't have access to any money and would be equally as screwed. I can't go to prosper because I already have a loan from them, and my girlfriend can't get one because her credit is too bad. Even some of the newer peer to peer I can't use because they either aren't in my state or I'm not a college student. I can't get a loan from a bank because of my recent bankruptcy and I can't secure it.
Does anyone know of rich caring giving people who loan money if you can't provide me a consolidation company to work with. All I have is the payday loans... I'm getting desparate and don't know what to do anymore....

I just got this job and the longer I stay the easier it is for me to move when I do need to. It is a place that people can get by on only one income, that is if they don't have the spending problems I have, and the "everything that can go wrong will go wrong" thing that seems to happen.
The other issue is that B has been too picky about a job. I understand that certain jobs will make her crazy and take it out on me, but I'm getting to the point where I won't mind right now. In fact I'm hoping to motivate her by getting a second job (at a place where she could get one) and when she never sees me then maybe she'll change her mind.

lmk, cannr, goudah - Thanks for being there for me. I guess mostly I just need to vent (see above post). I'll let you know if I need anything else.
I'm just frustrated right now. I just filled out an application for Subway to work on the weekends. I can get free food and discounts that way. During lunch B and I are going to go pick up some applications for her. The problem right now is that B doesn't drive. If we can get her driving her options will open up significantly. There is a FedEx or UPS job (it didn't specify, just said freight) that I found on the Oregon Jobs site that she'd love (she'd get to wear shorts), and be good at. But you have to drive to do that.
She is applying to be a Basketball coach for the middle school, that is a job she wants to do. But that is a part time thing that probably won't pay much. But right now I'm not expecting anything... No more being optimistic and planning what to do when we finally have money. It is just too heartbreaking when it doesn't work out....

I understand that when you have a job it is good to remain for a while so your resume looks better. It is difficult also to exist on one income. I am doing that now while my wife looks for a work at home job. Our problem is having only one car. I am also considering taking a second job because I find I am getting deeper and deeper in the hole each month. I surley can apperciate your hardship and will pray that things turn around for you really quick. Moving is not always the answer. I moved and here I am in the same mess I had before I moved.

I agree that moving isn't always a good option - The reason I asked Pokogeo about it is because I only live a bit away from them, and the job market here is pretty good right now . . . .

Thanks frogpatch.
I understand how that goes. We moved in January and there hasn't been very much to pick from around here. I did splurge and get the internet in hopes that B would find something there. But all it did was make things worse, because I had an internet bill I couldn't afford, access to online PDLs as well as getting sucked into numerous online 'job' scams.

There are so many people out there with no conscience that set up work scams where you pay them a start up and they give you a work at home or a business that is impossible to succeed at. Many of them don't tell you about the additional costs until after you sign up and have already invested money. You can work from home for some of the airlines or doing medical billing if you have windows XP. They all require going for training however and it is hard for many to get to their locations. I feel your frustration! Things will change for you though. You are in a season of plowing which is follwed by a season of sowing from which comes a season of harvest. Some seasons can be very long but they are still seasons.
That was very wise and very well said Frogpatch. Thank you!
That was very wise and very well said Frogpatch. Thank you!
I did turn in my application to Subway, and it turns out they are looking for someone in the evenings. I'll be pulling double duty for hopefully no more than 3 nights a week, but hopefully that means a free dinner. (My last sandwich job was gracious in breaks and their subsequent meals, I've heard that other food places might not be). Hopefully I'll be getting a phone call. But I'm not going to count on anything right now....

Okay just got a message on my work phone from Anna at AML to call her back. The phone number 800-503-8028. When I searched it on the web my own thread came up... It is ameriloan.
One thing I do appreciate about the PDLs is that when they call my office and leave messages, they use codes or don't say their name at all. That means if they get a hold of someone not me, or my machine, then they probably won't be using their names, especially if the word loan is in it, or the name is known to be a loan.
So the calls have started. I guess I will send them another email telling them not to call me at work. I suspect I'll be getting a lot more at work after I shut of my cell phone.

I just spoke with ameriloan again, managed to call while I was sitting at my desk (a rare thing). She did her spiel, was rather nice about it. Wanting to see if I was going to make any payments to get my account current.
So here is about what I said....
"I've already sent emails and direct mail regarding this matter. I did ask that you do not call me at work as this is a personal matter. I will be contacting you."
I got a "what?" and then I hung up. It was kind of fun. I guess I will be filling out those complaint forms now. Since I got my second job I can probably pay these off soon.
In reference to that previous call, thought I would clarify, it
In reference to that previous call, thought I would clarify, it was a "huh?" kind of "what" and not a "oh no you just di-nt" kind. I think it was because I was speaking quickly.
But I just got off the phone with CashCall and I'm a little shaken. I told them that my situation should be in their notes and I tried to get a deferment and such. And she said it just recently crossed her desk and she was just checked up. I said I just got a second job and I didn't know when my pay schedule was going to be but I could probably put some on it when I got that. She left me her number and to call her back when I had an idea.
I just get nervous with phones now. I am seriously frightened. I am developing a severe hatred towards them. Any ringing causes a panic attack, and not hearing a familar voice makes me crazy. I don't think I can take much more of this....
Also filed a complaint for ameriloan, got an email reply. A letter will be sent reminding them to get a license and Mike said he'd call them to. He also reminded me to send a letter certified telling them not to call my work phone. I'll keep you updated on how that one goes....

Thanks lmk!
But I'm here again to update some bad news. Cash Call has been calling me non-stop. They are going to proceed with some action soon and they will make a note that I haven't called them. But will they make a note that I've emailed them? I will also be sending their letter, and probably today. And I'm upset I didn't send it earlier.....But my situation had changed after that anyway...... Grr Arg!
What is my issue with calling this time? I was in the bathroom and the secretary took it for me. He said it was real important and he was worried, blah blah blah, and asked if there was someone else to speak with, so she sent it to my Boss's office. He is out of town, but he probably got left a message. So I'm going to have to explain myself. Told the secretary though next time someone calls to just tell them to leave me a message, because no one of consequence has my office number.
I feel sick and I want to cry....

Don't stress - It will work out. If anything, tell your boss that someone has stolen your ID. That way it doesn't look bad against you.
Have you sent Cash Call a letter telling them not to contact you at work yet? If not, do that asap. Then if they call you at work after that they can get into some trouble . . . .

Roxy - Thanks for the info I'll be emailing!
Goudah - thanks for the PM as well, hopefully my reply got to you (and hopefully not the 3 times I tried to send it).
I sent the letter today. It explains my situation, how I'm requesting that they consider the deferment like they should have when I did send in a payment to get me caught up because they said they would but they didn't. I said it was in their best interest to do the deferment, as well as mine. And I also stated not to call me at work as it is not for personal use and this is a personal matter.
As for my Boss I'm not too worried, he's a pretty cool guy. I should probably let him know a little bit about the situation, in case they do call again, he'll tell them to shove it. Plus he'll understand why I got a loan, because I didn't get the bonus I was supposed to get when I was hired.... He was as upset about it as I was....
Poko-I am sorry to hear of this...not cool at all about the call

It is unfortunate that this is a legal loan, and I do have to pay it back or suffer legal consequences.... And with my only other phone dead, and going to be shut off (I really need to do that...) they will want to call my work.
But I wrote in the letter that email and direct mail is the only way to get ahold of me and that is the way I prefer it.
It is nice to have copies of all communication, especially since I got screwed over during my one phone conversation where they said I'd be submitted for deferrment.....

Poko, let me know how that information works out for you. I really hope there is something he can do for you. I will have my fingers crossed. I have not followed through on it yet. I have been concerned about all of my pdl info comming out...No one knows, not even my husband and am still contemplating. But I am behind you 100% and will do anything I can to help. I spoke to Cash Call yesterday and informed them that I amnot to receive phone calls at work and the girl claimed she noted my account. I think will put it in writing as well. If you need aything else, I am here. roxy.

So I think CashCall is getting the point of the no phone calls. I haven't heard from them yet, but I got a letter in the mail and one in my email.
Quote:
Dear ..., You have breached your contract and your Loan #.... with CashCall, Inc. is now in default. You must bring the loan current by sending the amount shown below to CashCall, Inc. in the form of a MoneyGram, money order, or certified check. The total amount due as of 10/01/2007 is $463.10 Principal and Interest $433.10 Fees $30.00 Total Amount Due $463.10 You must include any additional payments or late charges that become due, along with the amount shown above, to bring your account current. CashCall, Inc.'s acceptance of less than the total amount due does not waive our right to demand the entire balance due under the terms of your contract. If you fail to bring your account current within 15 days of the date of this letter, we may exercise acceleration of the loan and demand the entire balance outstanding under the terms of your loan agreement. This amount includes, but is not limited to, principal, interest, and all other outstanding charges. We may also pursue all actions afforded to CashCall under the terms of your contract to collect these amounts. You will have the right to bring your loan current even after these actions have begun. We want to work with you to resolve the problem and help you bring your account into good standing. We urge you to contact our collections department at the toll free number (866) 899-1844; we will be happy to discuss possible solutions to the delinquency. Sincerely, Richard Vargas |
So it looks like they are taking the quick route, unlike waiting a while like I've heard for the debt to build up before pursuing, but I'm not sure yet what their plans are. If they sue me, I do have a lawyer contact now, apparently a few are wanting to go after cash call... And I have proof that I'm doing what I can, despite all the odds against me. If they sell then I'll owe a very large sum of money to a collection agency, but from what I've heard from others the one they could sell it to is a lot easier to work with. So we'll see how that all works out! I'll keep you posted...

Poko - My experience with these places is that they threaten legal action right away . . . . But they will wait months to actually sue. I was threatened with legal action by a similar company in Dec, I didn't get sued until July of the next year, and I had not made any payments or talked to them at all in those months in between. In Dec I even received a letter from their lawyer saying they would sue . . . .
Well it does say I will have the right to bring my loan current
Well it does say I will have the right to bring my loan current even after action has begun. So atleast they give me that. I guess suing takes a little while because of the paperwork. So that makes me feel only slightly better.

Okay now I think CashCall got my letter. Just got an email from loss mitigation. If I pay them my regularly scheduled payment of 216.55, they will forgive all the late payments, consider me current and I won't have to start paying again until December.
I was just doing my 'living paycheck to paycheck' budget, trying to figure out how to leave money to visit my parents in a few weekends. But now it looks like I'll have to use that money to pay off cashcall leaving me barely enough for food and fuel to get to work. But it would be worth it, and this time I have paperwork and a thing I will sign (and keep copies for myself) to prove that I'm supposed to be defered. I'll have to talk to B about it. Luckily I get paid on the 22 because they want their 216 on the 23rd!
Any thoughts?
It sounds like it is a decent option. I'm confused on one thing
It sounds like it is a decent option. I'm confused on one thing though - It's only a month deferrement? What is the point of that? If you only get November off, it seems like a lot of trouble to go to for hardly any relief. But with this company, I'd say if it's in writing, I'd go for it. Some relief is better then nothing . . . . .
But they are also 'defering' my past due payments. So they are
But they are also 'defering' my past due payments. So they are forgiving September and November essentially (2 payments), and forgiving any fees, (although interest continues to add to my total balance). Plus they'll put a happy mark back on my credit report.
Plus with my second job, I think I might be able to afford it again (my fastfood check will be gone to pay it, but I do get paid once a month at the beginning). And hopefully B will get a call from them too, or by the end of the month will hopefully have better options.
Okay, that makes more sense. Go for it! This is good! That me
Okay, that makes more sense. Go for it! This is good! That means the calls stop too! Yay! Things are starting to look better! :D

Yeah! Only I'm going to be strapped for cash this next paycheck again. And I'm even more short than usual because the banking internet system was down and I didn't keep track of how much I spent, and since it wasn't updated for me I overspent so I've got a negative balance to clear up, including the $50 in NSF fees. I usually only keep good track of my spending when I'm driving away and won't have access to a computer. But now I'm going to keep track all the time in case it happens again. And I already did a draw on my fastfood check, which we can only do once a month. So I have to wait until the first to have that money.
Just be very careful about what you spend - And it's a good idea
Just be very careful about what you spend - And it's a good idea to start keeping track. I rely way too much on internet banking to see my balance too. When it's down, it's hell trying to remember every little purchase I made to figure out my balance. Ugh!

Yeah, very painful. But I have this cute little register that my card fits into, since I don't have a checkbook. I tend to stuff reciepts in it but I don't do the math until later. Except when I'm travelling though because I'm always on budget when I do that....
But in good news, my second job finally called B, and I have to take her in for an interview. I'm so glad my first job has annual leave and all that good stuff so I can get stuff done. I took half of yesterday off to collect wood, because I can't do it on the weekends now because I work my other job!

I have this friend who during high school and for a while after was working up to 3 jobs at a time. I understand what she meant by needing just one day off. She always had just one day out of the week. It helps keep you from going crazy. Depending on if B gets the job and what her schedule might be, until she can drive again, will help me figure out if I want to go to 4 10s so that I can have that one day off...

Well the snow has stopped for now, but yeah in eastern Oregon we got a bit of snow... Only it is also snowing on my plots that I was supposed to go get done so when my boss comes back he probably won't be too happy that I haven't gotten anything done yet! Okay now I'm getting annoyed with phone calls. The collections for Prosper has been calling non-stop. And I suspect they won't stop calling me at work since now they know that I don't have another number for them to call me at. Should I send a letter? Asking them not to call me at all and only send communication via letters or email? Plus I can in more detail explain my situation. They are wanting at least 1 payment before the end of this month, but I can't do that, I'm already way behind on my car (to the point that they might actually want to take it form me soon), and I won't get my extra paycheck until the first of next month. What am I to do?

And now ameriloan just called me again. I told them I sent them a letter regarding the matter, thank you, goodbye. Which he called back immediately and asked about what are you refering to, so I repeated myself, I've sent letters, email, and contacted the banking department and also said not to call me at this number again, thank you goodbye. And hung up on him.
I think he got the point, so hopefully I won't be hearing from them anymore...

Is it prosper calling? Or a collection agency for prosper calling?
If it's a collection agency, yes, you can send them a letter and request all communication be done through mail. If it's still with Prosper, since they are the original creditor, you can't tell them they can't call you.

I went online and the company is called Penncro Associates, I believe they are the collection agency for Prosper. They told me that if I can get caught up then I'd be back with Prosper and can work out some plan with them. I didn't even know I could work out some plan, because anyone I emailed or asked about it never responded..... I knew ahead of time I wasn't going to be able to pay prosper but had no idea I could do something before hand...
