Allie Interstae is trying (given me the "final Opportunity) to get $2,000 plus from me that I owe in back taxes to the IRS (california)
Do I have to make a check out to AI, or can I go directly to the IRS now?
Thank you!

I know that the Irs recently started hiring third party collectors for back taxes. The collectors are not obligated to follow fdcpa because taxes are not considered a consumer debt under Fdcpa.Go to irs.gov and it will give you all the information you need about how back taxes are collected and what rules must be followed. I would call the Irs just to make sure AI is the correct agency. If they are the right agency, then go ahead and pay them as soon as possible.
