Credit Protection Depot collecting for mycashnow

I received the following email from CPD/Credit Protection Depot, the collection arm of mycash now PDL. Does anyone have an email address for them? I'd rather not call them as they have been rather nasty with me when I do.

Mizzgriz, I have been away from the forums for a little while. This is a threat that Credit Protection uses. Everyone just about that has been involved with My Cash or Payday Max has received this. What state are you from? My advice would be to look up your state laws on payday lending. Check with your secretary of states office to see if they are legal to do business there. 99.9 percent chance they are not. Contact your Attorney Generals office ASAP. Consumer division regardless of your laws. This type of interest is absolutely ridicioulous. Best Wishes and Keep me Posted I am due a refund from these people for over 2000. KYSIDE38

Mishele AG is doing the battle with them now. Finally found the crooks thanks to you. LOL So with my AG track record I will get the refund. He is the bloodhound against payday loans. LOL KYSIDE38

Hi. If I'm not mistaken, Credit Protection Depot is not in the United States. I think it is in Canada. Anyway, they aren't legal, so they can't do anything to you. Try this email address:
cpdcustomerservice(at)creditprotectiondepot.com

I'm not sure it will work, but I had a loan with them and in digging through some of my stuff, I ran across it. Good luck. :-)

I've been trying to email the crap out of them and I don't believe that email address works.. Would it be best to just fax them?

Isn't it strange that in their letter they made insinuations of a lawsuit threat, but would not directly state that they are going to sue? Sounds like they are trying to threaten suit while dancing around the fdcpa, meaning they probably cannot file suit and/or do not intend to. Masked threat perhaps?

I know for a fact that my cash now is in Canada as I had dealings with them. However, I didn't have any problems with them, but it was only for $100.00

Well first of all, I have no idea what they are talking about checkscan...never heard of them before..i have heard of Scan, and if they are sending out these kind of emails perhaps they need to do a little more research and get the company name right.

Hi Lucylu. I'm sorry about the email address. It is the only one I have for them. Yep. I would try faxing them. I can't believe how hard it is to track these companies down to send correspondence to them in writing! I guess if I were running an illegal operation I would try to make it hard for me to be tracked down, too. :-)

my cash now is offshore and can be found in St. George's, Grenada. Ladybug, they are not based out of Canada. Trust me. I have done my investigations.

In a previous post, I have this information for you:

William S. Reed, Pres., Treas., Secretary, and Director.
Credit Protection Depot, Inc.,
4601 West Sahara Ave., Suite 1
Las Vegas, Nevada 89102

Acting as a debt collector for MyCashNow.com, Inc. (apparently chartered in Grenada - the independent country in the Carribean, not the town in N.Y.)

My son fraudulently used my bank info to get a loan through these people. They sent me an email saying, congratulations, your loan has been approved. I immediatedly sent them back an email telling them I didnt apply for the loan and I didnt want or need their money or their loan. Because of the fraud with my son, I was getting the checking acct closed. Unfortunately, they got in just under the gun and got the deposit into my acct right before it was closed. I told them they were getting their 610.00 dollars back and to tell me where to send it. They wanted my new checking information. Did they think I was born yesterday??!! So they said that I had to send it western union. The money was deposited on thursday, this was friday. I told them I would send it back western union minus the cost of the western union. They insisted I had to send the whole amount back. I told them the next person they would hear from would be my lawyer, since this was fraud. I am not going to sue my son, but I will sue them if I have to. They are nasty people. But creditprotectiondepot.com is just the third party for paydaymax. They are nothing but loan sharks and crooks. Because I didnt rush right out on friday and send the money, they sent me an email today saying I owe them 683.02. Are they nuts? Even if I had wanted the money, to go from just putting the money in on thursday and on monday demanding that much interest?? You gotta know that they are crooks. Well, we'll just see what my lawyer has to say about all of this.

Welcome to the community Linda, payday loans are a form of (depending on your state law) legal predatory lending. Your right, interest rates are insane at sometimes over 1000% They sometimes have a nasty habit of trapping consumers by forcing them to either pay only their service fee, or the entire loan plus their service fee. It keeps the consumer almost trapped in the loan. If this was a result of fraud you may need to file a report for identity theft in order to get it cleared up.

Also, what state do you live in? I would like to look up your state's law on payday loans to see if they are legal in your state.

I too have had problems with this company. I lost my job and had no money while they repeatedly bounced my checking account over and over when there was nothing in there and now I owe my bank around $600 in fees from mycashnow and I have mycashnow threatening me with the exact same emails saying I owe them close to $700 for a $300 loan that I had started paying on before my job let me go. I'm not sure what to do as this has turned into a big ugly mess. And the best part is they still continue to try to debit my bank account and are running my bill up with my bank to an insane amount. Anbody have any advice for me as to what I should do? I live in Nc. Is the company really based out of the country?

Here is the legal status for PDL's in NC:

North Carolina State Information

Legal Status: Prohibited (N.C. Gen. Stat. ???? 53-281 authorizing payday loans allowed to sunset in 2001)

Citation:
The consumer finance act applies. N.C. Gen. Stat. ???? 53-173

Small Loan Rate Cap
36% per year

Where to Complain, Get Information:
Regulator: North Carolina Attorney General (See also Commissioner of Banks)
Address: NC Attorney General's Office 9001 Mail Service Center Raleigh NC 27699-9001
Phone: (919) 716-6400

Apparently since they are illegal you are only responsible for repaying the principal balance plus interest as it may legally be applied which is 36% per anum.

If you actually speak with CPD, and ask for a physical address they will not give you one. They will tell you they are not allowed to do so. I settled with them relatively easily AFTER I faxed them a copy of my C and D letters to both MyCashNow and PayDayMax. My MyCashNow account was marked PIF immediately, and my PayDayMax account was settled with the remaining balance on the principal ONLY. The payment was directed to a LasVegas address. I would try faxing my C and D letter over to a one Mr. William S. Reed at CPD, Inc. 1-866-645-1662. Ask him to review the C and D's that were sent to the respective PDL. I would also attach a copy of my State Laws. Being in New York, PDLs are also prohibited here and I think that status worked in my favor. You could also give ACHC a jingle as they are the processor for both MV+CN and PDM. Wouldn't hurt to cover all your bases.

Guest. . .we have nothing to do with Pay Day Loans. We are a dedicated site to help people get out of the PDL trap. If I am interpreting your state laws correctly, PDLs are prohibited in NC. If that is the case, send a copy of your C and D letter to Mr. William Reed, at Credit Protection Depot, including your State laws. That is exactly what got me my PIF on my MyCashNow loan.

Your bank returned the debited transactions to repay your loan obligation. Your account is now seriously delinquent. I have made several attempts to contact you both by phone and e-mail, with no response by you. I am attempting to make arrangements to settle this account. I am the last contact you will have with Credit Protection Depot before this account is turned over to an independent outside agency.
I feel I should remind you that your agreement states, you will be responsible for all collection fees, court costs and attorney fees associated with collection of this debt. If the account is turned over to an Outside agency they will charge additional fees over and above the amount you currently owe and will take whatever steps necessary for the total fees due which could possibly include a court appearance for a possible judgment be issued against you for the repayment of this legally binding debt.
I also feel I should tell you this action may not only affect your credit report rating but is also listed on the Tele Track System, which is used by Cash Advance Loan companies, rental companies, and other businesses, in determining whether or not to approve a loan. This could prevent you from even receiving a cash advance loan any where in the U.S. We must require that you render your payment in the amount of $480.71 via western union quick collect or money gram immediately. This payment reflects your balance as of January 23rd 2009.

This is what I recieved today after sending the c&d and the illegal lender letter several times in the past couple of weeks:

Credit Protection Depot
1-866-645-1661

CLOSED ACCOUNT WARNING

Valentino Luigi Malloggi

We have received information from your bank that you have closed the account, which you authorized to be debited in order to repay your legally binding loan obligation. We consider this to be a refusal to repay your debt and will immediately initiate action to protect our interest. We must require that you render your payment in the amount of $1177.94 via western union quick collect or moneygram immediately. This payment reflects your balance as of October 6th 2010.

We may also initiate other action, which may include, but not be limited to, obtaining legal representation, (which would create additional charges to you), if we do determine that a request be made for service or a court appearance for a possible judgment be issued against you for the repayment of this legally binding debt.

Depending on the circumstances surrounding how you obtained the loan, we may also initiate internal investigation to ensure all information submitted on the loan application was accurate and not done fraudulently in order to attempt to obtain a loan under false pretenses.

You need to go to Western Union and get the BLUE QUICK COLLECT FORM (or go to www.westernunion.com and choose the quick collection option)

1. COMPANY NAME: CREDIT PROTECTION DEPOT
2. CODE CITY: OFFER (ONE WORD NO SPACES).
3. STATE: NEVADA
4. ACCOUNT #: Your Social Security Number
5. The reference # is Your Telephone Number

You can also use your debit card or various charge cards at www.westernunion.com

OR you can go to Moneygram and get the BLUE EXPRESSPAYMENT FORM

2. The Receive Code is: 4243
3. The City is: Las Vegas
4. The State is: Nevada
5. The Account Number is: 1434208377

If you are unable to pay $1177.94 for the entire balance on the loan then we must require a minimum payment of $392.65 place the account on hold.

If this account is referred for further review and action to our outside firm for additional collection efforts, it will commence activity on the account to be done to the fullest extent of the law in order to protect our interest in this matter. At that point, you will be responsible for all additional fees associated with costs involved for the collection of this debt.

Please call us immediately with the Control Number of your wire in order to update your account and to avoid other action and charges to you.

I would highly suggest you call 1-866-645-1661 to resolve this matter immediately. This is the only way for you to resolve this very serious situation, which you have initiated. Your failure to do so may result in the above-mentioned action being taken

Thank you,

well they are not going to do anything but stupidly harrass.both mycashnow, and credit protection depot are illegal entities.if you have not filed AG,AND FTC complaints against both parties.do so asap.being as mycashnow is illegal you only owe the principle.that means unless you actually borrowed 1177.44.you do not owe that amount.also check your state laws in regards to recording calls.these idiots want you to call so they can threaten, harrass, argue, and insult you.unless you can record the call i would just keep emailing your letter until they get the hint.like a child though you will have to send it repeatedly before it sinks in with them.

Problem is, you can't email them - they have made certain that their email addresses are ONE WAY. They are the same company as PayDayMax and send the same exact letters. I have tried sending the C&D email to every possible email address I can think to make up to get to them and after about 3 days, they are returned as undeliverable. Funny how before I was unable to pay back the loan, my emails got through, but now that I cannot and refuse to pay their fees, none of my emails get through to them.

well then file the usual complaints, and forward them to those places.then laugh whenever you forward the emails.just know they can't do anything and want you to call so they can threaten you stupidly.don't let the fact that they blocked you from sending emails bother you.in fact that is a sign that things are going your way with them.

I filed Chapter 13 and gave them all of the info and they still called me 4 times today!!! They turned down my loan and then approved it at a later date w/o notifying me. It went into an account I no longer used and when they tried to get their payment plus interest, it was overdrafted. They would try 3-4 times a day, and my bank allowed it! I'll never apply for online cash again, no matter how dire the needs are.
