Jason - is this related to a Payday Loan? It sounds like it may be.

They cannot have you arrested for defaulting on a payday loan.

If you can post what state you are located in, how much the original loan was, and how much you have paid them so far, one of us here will be able to help you understand your state's payday lending laws, and help you find out if this company is licensed to lend in your state. Armed with that information, you will be better prepared to answer the phone the next time they call.

I am dealing with the same thing with BMG and if you look on your bank statement it will show TJF that is the bank that funded the payday loan. Then BMG turned your account over to I-Collect which tured it over to united pay services. That is probably the company that called you. Be firm with them make sure you know your states laws on payday loans and make them validate the debt. They will say that they don't have to and you tell them that under federal law they have to. Let them know that you will only pay by money order. I told them you have my info so send me validation and your correct address and I will send you a money order and any further contact should be done via mail. I also told them that I know they broke several federal laws and that they are not licensed to collect in the state of wisconsin. Since I told them that they have not called me or my work anymore plus I have yet to recive anything in the mail from them. So again stand your ground with united pay service and look them up in this forum and see what they have tried to do with others like you and I.

I borrowed payday loan a while back. All others that I borrowed and I had trouble paying back. They had they law firms to contact me all depts are paid off. Now this this company called BMG has been calling my neighbor, threating to take her to court because this payday loan was not paid. I spoke to them this Mr.John McCain from US LAW INFORCEMENT wants me to pay them $1000 out of court or take me to court and have me arrested, plus this number do not exsist 201-478-7912. What should I do. Should I check with FBI?

This John McCain has been calling my cell phone harassing me looking for a guy who I do not know. When I told him I did not know the guy, he said "well you just wait and see lady, the cops will be pulling up at your house today to get you" .. uh yeah right. Send them .. please! This man has a very heavy accent and you can barely understand anything he says except the words "police" and "arrest" ect. This is a bogus scam company. I would not pay them if I were you. I have filed a complaint against this company with the FTC and also my local sherrifs office.

Look for a thread in the Collection Agencies section titled "United States Crime Suspect Dept? Collection agent posing as officer.." or just search this site for "United States Crime Suspect Department." I started that thread about this company - I have been dealing with them since last year. It is the same people.

They have been harassing me for months. Started off saying I owed money on an old Bank of America account - funny, as I've never had a BofA account in my life. Today they called me saying it was Bahamas Marketing Group I owed money to for a PDL (never taken a PDL from them, but oooookay...)

They have been harassing me off and on since at least December. Always the same spiel about being arrested, having my credit report & SSN frozen, turned over to the sheriff, you name it. Always the same Indian accents. I have filed complaints with everyone from my local PD and state AG up to the FBI and Interpol.

He tried calling me back in january and i didnt fully listen to the VM so all i got was some lady, Emily Shelbre or something like that was in legal trouble so i called and left a message to whoever and said they had the wrong number and should really try to get hold of her cause i didnt want her in trouble you know. well i got a call today and actually listened this time. He said his name was JOHN MCCAIN! yeah right! so knew it was a scam right off the bat this time so i just deleted the message. he called again a few hours later and i yelled at him. and he kept saying "Im going to send police" blah blah more threats. so i kept yelling at him and my father in law took the phone and started talking. asing his badge number and where he was from and email and fax. well the guy hung up. so we called back and said " we can send you a billing statement that says this isnt who you think" just to get a fax or address out off him. he told us we would need to send in a hundred dollar statement few or something like that. He is one determed little man. but such an obvious scam artist. number was (201)478-7912

TODAY THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CALLING ME SAYING I OWE THEM $7000 AND WILL SETTLE FOR $850 THE NUMBER WAS (201)478-7912 EXT 1052. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Tell them to send you something in writing. And if this was the first time they called you, the have 5 business days to send you a letter. You can also send them a DV letter.

We also have been recently receiving calls from this Bahamas marketing group. I have nver heard of them or dealt with a comapny by this name. My husband usually is the one to talk to them and they told him the are a sister company of another comapny that we had a payday loan through. When my husband asked them which sister company, they told him they didn't know, but that we needed to pay them the money owed. My husband proceeded to tell them that we did not pay it back on advice of our attorney, and the guy then said thank you for saying that on our recording and HUNG UP!!! My husband called them back and got the same guy, and told him that we are filing bankruptcy and if we truly owed them this money, they would contact our attorney who would we knew would call the bluff as they had already been told of the situation. They told us that they do not contact attorneys and again hung up! They keep calling and I don't know how to get them to stop. They have not gone so far as to threaten us with arrest or court yet, but I have a feeling that that is coming. Even though I know they can't threaten us with such legal actions, I just want them to stop calling since we have never taken a loan out with them. Any advice???

Just ignore them! Hang up when they call! They have no legal rights to collect anything in the US! They are desparate scammers try to make a living in an impoverished country! Just hang up! There is nothing they can do!
