I have had that happen numerous times when a pdl called me at work. They would sit there typing and chatting to a co-worker while I'm on the other end saying, "Hello..."

It is just freaky to have someone call and you can hear them breathing and typing and not saying a word. Think they were checking to make sure it is a good number? Heck you would have thought they would have asked for someone or something. Next time I will just let my cell phone ring!
Phone call
That is what I opted to do. If it is really someone they will leave a voicemail for me to call them back

I've got several calls from what I later found out to be route 66 . . . . I think they auto dial phone numbers and don't always realize when someone is on the line. I've got 10 minute voicemails left with only background noise and typing before . . . .

Guess it was Route66 because I just got a voice mail from someone named "Sam". I got that he was calling in reference to all the emails we had sent this week. Then I could not understand everything that he said, something about authorization, debit on the 16th and the rest I could not understand at all.

"Sam" used to call me too. Have you stopped the direct debits with your bank, or closed the acct.? Route66 will keep trying to hit your acct.

When I got off work, I called the number they left on my voice mail and spoke to an "Ashley". I gave her the information and told her that we wanted the account marked paid in full. She said that they would debit our account for the full amount on Friday plus all fees. I informed her that she didn't understand, that we had already paid $455 on a $200 loan and that according to the AG office, that account has been paid and then some. She was trying to tell me otherwise that I still owed the principal and all the fees and they would take it out on Friday. I told her authroization had been revoked, the bank was aware of this and a flag had been put on my account and that they would not receive any more money from us. I also told her that a complaint had been filed with the NC AG because payday loans were illegal in our state. I stressed again about the account being paid in full and that any more correspondance could be done via email or US postal service and that she could not tell me that they could not respond to email because the message I had received from them on my voice mail stated they had received all our emails and that if they could receive emails and send me payment notices via email along with telling me my loan was approved via email, they could respond thru email. She was getting a little upset and started insisting on talking to my husband (who's name is actually on the loan) and I told her he was at work and that they were dealing with me because this was my account they were debiting (I am primary on our checking account). She still kept saying she wanted to talk to my husband and again I told her she was dealing with me, I am taking care of this now. I also informed her that we were very much aware of how they would threaten us with having the police arrest us and that they couldn't because PDLs are illegal in our state, and was aware of everything else they might try to get us to pay more and that we were not scared nor intemidated (sp) by them in no way, shape, or form. Then she wouldn't say anything and I kept saying "Hello" several time and I could hear talking in the back ground and finally the line went dead. I called my husband and gave him warning that they might try to call him at work and what they might do and what I said and he said ok and he would let his supervisor know too what was up with them. I was a bit witchy with them, I admit it, but I am tired of all this. I want my life back to where I am not robbing Peter to pay Paul, I have other debts that have not been paid that I need to take care of (medical bills, dental bills, some old credit card bills,) and need to save my house. I am tired of living the way I do. Maybe not feeling well helped me be so blunt and taking no bull, I don't know, but I am just tired of it all. As soon as I get my refund check from Whistler, I will be happy. Going to try to go ahead and get a refund form MagnumZ, although I doubt it because the address is in the West Indies, but hey, worth a shot and that only leaves me with 3, Route66, UnitedCAsh Loans (which I am sure I will hear from them soon due to bank reversing their debits) and 3Midland (midland marketing). Never, ever again will I do something so stupid as this!!! Lesson learned, the hard way!!!

2ndband,
Good for you! It sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Take it from someone who knows first hand what you are going through. Can I make one suggestion? Follow up your phone call with a certified letter to lender stating the same things. This will make your case even stronger :-)

Another call from Route66 demanding to speak to my husband. Told them he was not here, I was his wife and that I had said everything that needed to be said yesterday....and basically repeated what I said yesterday and the lady told me that if we didn't pay then their collections department will be calling me and I told her that we were not worried about it, that they were not licensed in the state of NC and they could threaten us with whatever, we didn't care and goodbye and hung up on her. This was not the same girl I spoke to yesterday. This lady had a strong accent. This is the on that has called most of the time and left voice messages. Looks like about time to change the ole cell phone number!!! Hubby's supervisor is aware of the situation and said he had no problem telling these people off and hanging up on them if need be. He liked being an a-hole!!

Mishele ~ will do that. I am sure I am making these people "very happy" LOL With knowing the games they play and knowing that they cannot do anything to me in NC, especially since I have more than paid this loan back, makes it a little easier for me to be "tough". LOL

Received another call from Route66, again wanting to speak to my husband. Told them again he was not here and I was accused of LYING! They told me that we were not going to get away with not paying them their money and how would I like it if he were in jail. Tole them that they were paid back and he was not going to jail, we were not scared and if they cared to hold, I would call the sheriffs department and tell them where they could pick him up if need be. I was hung up on!! Imagine that....
